Strengthening Students’ Academic Foundations: Year 9 TKA Simulation Academic Year 2025/2026 at Al Siddiq International School

On Wednesday, 25 February 2026, Year 9 students of Al Siddiq International School participated in the Academic Competency Test (TKA) Simulation held in the school’s computer laboratory. The activity involved all Year 9 students, who took part with full preparedness. The simulation ran in an orderly and smooth manner, demonstrating the students’ strong enthusiasm and commitment. The TKA simulation is part of a diagnostic programme and an initial assessment of students’ competencies at the primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels (SD/MI, SMP/MTs, and SMA/MA/SMK) as preparation for the official TKA organised by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). This assessment is designed as a parameter to evaluate students’ academic abilities objectively, measurably, and comprehensively, thereby providing a more accurate overview of their learning achievements. The computer-based simulation is not only intended to familiarise students with the digital examination system but also serves as a systematic tool for mapping their academic capabilities. Through this activity, the school obtains preliminary data that can be used as a basis for developing strategies to strengthen subject mastery and provide targeted academic support ahead of the official TKA. The TKA plays a strategic role in students’ educational journeys. TKA results may serve as one of the considerations for admission to higher levels of education, including pathways such as the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) as well as various other selection routes. At the junior secondary level, TKA results may also potentially be used as a consideration for entry into Senior High Schools (SMA) or Vocational High Schools (SMK) through achievement-based pathways, subject to the policies of each regional government. Students who participate in the TKA will receive a TKA Result Certificate (SHTKA). This certificate can be used for various educational selection requirements, making it a valuable academic document that supports the continuation of students’ studies. The school principal, Mr Amal Dzikrullah, M.Pd., stated that the implementation of this simulation represents a strategic step by the school in preparing students to face increasingly competitive academic challenges. According to him, the activity aims to: Help students understand the format and characteristics of TKA questions; Improve students’ time management skills during examinations; Provide authentic experience in taking computer-based assessments; Enhance students’ readiness and build their confidence in facing future educational selections. The successful implementation of this simulation reflects the school’s readiness in terms of facilities and infrastructure, as well as the commitment of educators in providing optimal guidance to students. It is hoped that through this activity, Year 9 students will become more academically and mentally prepared to face the next stage of their education. This TKA simulation forms part of Al Siddiq International School’s commitment to delivering high-quality education that is measurable, adaptive to technological developments, and oriented towards the future success of high-achieving generations.
