In commemoration of International Earth Day 2026, which falls on 22nd April, Al Siddiq Junior High School organised a tree-planting activity as a form of environmental care. The event involved all students, who were divided into several groups, demonstrating a spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility for preserving nature. Each group brought their own plants or seedlings to be planted around the school grounds, from the courtyard to the garden. Various types of plants were planted, including papaya trees, which were chosen by several groups. This activity not only symbolised greening efforts, but also served as a concrete step towards creating a lush and sustainable school environment. Earth Day itself aims to raise global awareness of the importance of protecting the environment. More than just a ceremony, this occasion encourages all members of society to understand environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and ecosystem damage. In addition, Earth Day promotes behavioural change towards a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and inspires real action through activities such as tree planting and nature conservation. Through this activity, Al Siddiq Junior High School seeks to instil environmental responsibility in students from an early age. It is hoped that this awareness will not stop within the school environment, but will also be carried into their daily lives. One of the students of Al Siddiq Junior High School, Kamayla, expressed her enthusiasm for the activity. “I want to look after this tree, plant it, and fertilise it later,” she said enthusiastically. Her statement reflects the growing sense of care and love for the environment among the younger generation. Through this Earth Day commemoration, it is hoped that all students will become more aware of the importance of protecting the environment, carrying out greening efforts, and playing an active role in preserving nature.
