Animalium BRIN: The First Educational Field Trip of Al Siddiq Primary School

Bekasi – September 2023 One of the extracurricular activities organised by Al Siddiq International Primary School (SD Al Siddiq) is the Educational Field Trip (EFT). For the first semester, the school’s inaugural EFT was a visit to Animalium (Animal Science Centre), a research facility owned by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Animalium, which has been open to the public since March 2023, was designed as a destination for animal science tourism. It enables visitors to explore and learn about animal life ecosystems, thereby helping to foster ecological awareness and intelligence among the nation’s future generations. With the dual purpose of learning and leisure, Al Siddiq pupils visited Animalium to directly observe various species of animals, their anatomy and characteristics, natural and artificial habitats, as well as to study animal conservation. The field trip, held on Tuesday (26/9), also served as a refreshing activity for pupils after completing their Mid-Semester Summative Assessments (STS) the previous week. What impressions did the pupils gain from this EFT? They expressed great joy and excitement at learning in a new environment. The opportunity to see a variety of animals they had never encountered before was a memorable experience. Alhamdulillah, the trip ran smoothly, and everyone returned safely and in good health. See you on the next trip and adventure! [Red]By Esty Indraswariani, S.Sos

One Dollar, One Dinar: Rewards for the “Language Warriors”

Bekasi, 2023 The month of August at Al Siddiq International School was not only enlivened by the celebration of Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day, but also by the launch of a special program awarding “rewards” to students who actively practiced using Arabic and English in the school environment. The program, known as the Bilingual Gamification Program, began in the third week of August, one month after the start of the academic year. This initiative was introduced by the Bilingual Unit with the aim of increasing students’ interest in using Arabic and English both inside and outside the classroom. Under the leadership of Ustadz Fedrian Hasmand, the unit designed a model of play money in two currencies: dollars and dinars. A “dollar” was given as a reward for conversations in English, while a “dinar” was awarded for conversations in Arabic. The play money came in denominations of one, five, and ten. The value given depended on the quality and quantity of conversations students engaged in, whether with peers, teachers, or school staff. For example, one dollar or dinar was awarded not only for simple greetings or brief responses, but also for initiating conversations that involved teachers or staff. A denomination of five was given to students who could engage in discussions or exchange information with peers. Finally, a denomination of ten was awarded to those who could answer lesson-related questions in class or share stories about specific topics. Rewards were distributed by teachers, principals, foundation administrators, and school staff. This reward system successfully sparked students’ enthusiasm to apply their language lessons in daily life. Students became highly motivated, encouraging their peers who were still less active in using both languages. The program also proved effective in boosting children’s confidence and courage in bilingual communication. After receiving the play money, students were required to submit it to their homeroom teachers for recording and calculation. The totals would be accumulated until the end of the semester, and those with the highest points would receive real prizes at the mid-semester report distribution. The Bilingual Gamification Program continues into September, with the hope that students will remain istiqomah—consistent and committed—in actively using both languages in every activity, both inside and outside the classroom. Truly, these special rewards are well-deserved by the “Language Warriors” of Al Siddiq International School. [Red]

Parenting Seminar: “The Art of Educating Children Within the Family”

The parenting seminar “The Art of Educating Children Within the Family” was held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, featuring national parenting expert Irwan Rinaldi, widely known as Ayah Irwan, as the keynote speaker. Also present was national da’i Ustadz Dr. Attabik Luthfi, MA as a guest speaker. The seminar, attended by more than 130 participants, was warmly received, with attendees engaging enthusiastically from beginning to end. As part of its service to parents, Al Siddiq International School also provided a dedicated kids zone where children could play and engage in creative activities while their parents attended the sessions. Parenting Approaches to Nurture Righteous Children In his presentation, Ayah Irwan emphasized the importance of instilling noble character in children from an early age, as character education cannot be postponed. Parents, teachers, and adults around children must serve as good role models, prioritize character education, and inspire them through action. He further stressed the necessity for parents to strengthen their spiritual connection with Allah SWT, establish a clear vision, mission, and strategy in marriage, and align their principles and parenting approaches as husband and wife. According to him, raising righteous children must be in line with the divine design of Allah SWT. Parents should take advantage of their children’s golden moments to instill Islamic values—by teaching, experiencing, and preserving them consistently. Educating Children Through the Lens of the Qur’an The second speaker, Ustadz Dr. Attabik Luthfi, MA, discussed how the Qur’an underscores the importance of child-rearing and provides comprehensive guidance on parenting. He explained that akhlaq (morals) is the ultimate measure of human goodness, and that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), with his noble character, remains the best role model for Muslims. “The piety of a child is the highest form of gratitude for parents. Therefore, we as parents must sincerely fulfill our duty to educate our children,” said Ustadz Attabik. He further elaborated that the righteousness of parents positively impacts their children, as Allah will grant His protection over them. The Qur’an outlines various parenting approaches across several surahs. By following its guidance, parents can help cultivate strong moral character in their children. Ustadz Attabik highlighted several key traits: Closing This parenting seminar was designed to broaden parents’ understanding of child-rearing, reinforcing the awareness that Islam and the Qur’an already provide complete guidance on cultivating akhlaqul karimah (noble character). Amazing Ramadhan 1444 H with Al Siddiq International School

Amazing Ramadhan 1444 H Bersama Al Siddiq International School By Yusuf Yudhana Why Is There a Solid Team? The Solid Team of Al Siddiq International School was officially formed in early January 2023, under the supervision of the Chairman of the Al Siddiq International Foundation. By mid-February, the team began to occupy the school’s main building, which was still in the process of being equipped and finalized by the Foundation. While waiting for the full completion of staff recruitment, this team—according to the Foundation’s decree—was essentially the Student Admissions Team (PPDB). Naturally, its main target was to recruit as many new students as possible. As emphasized by the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees: “Do not only focus on new students, but also accept transfer students.” As a completely new educational institution, Al Siddiq International School Bekasi is not a branch of any existing school, nor does it have branches elsewhere. It is a brand-new school that officially opened student admissions in 2023 for Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High levels. Amazing Ramadhan 1444 H Two weeks before Ramadhan, in the midst of admission campaigns and field activities, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees visited with a fresh idea and a bold strategy: “Go ahead and organize a Qur’an Memorization Competition (Mushabaqah Hifzhil Qur’an) at the Bekasi City level.” What thrilled us even more was his directive that all participants would be rewarded, with a total prize fund of 100 million rupiah. Like new energy coursing through our veins, we immediately formed a technical committee for the event. The competition was then announced across Bekasi City and surrounding areas. Within just 48 hours, registration reached 300 participants. Due to overwhelming enthusiasm and limited capacity, we had to close registration at that number. The competition was divided into four categories: Kindergarten (selected Juz ‘Amma) Primary 1 (Grades 1–3): 1 Juz (Juz 30) Primary 2 (Grades 4–6): 2 Juz (29 and 30) Junior High: 3 Juz (28, 29, and 30) The event consisted of three stages: Preliminary Selection, Elimination Round, and the Grand Final. The first two stages were held at the Al Siddiq International School campus, with participants assessed by an experienced panel of judges—including several PhD scholars. From these stages, 80 of the best participants advanced to the Grand Final, held on 17 Ramadhan at the Bellavista Hall (just 300 meters from the school). On that day, each finalist performed at their best, until finally, the judges selected 24 winners across all categories—separately for boys and girls—ranking them from first to third place. With the credibility of judges including Qur’an memorizers (Huffaz) of doctoral level, the accuracy of the winners’ recitations was beyond question. The event was also highly appreciated by local institutions such as the Bekasi City LPTQ (Institute for Qur’anic Development). Its chairman noted: “There has never been a Qur’an competition in which 80 participants reached the final.” Moreover, for the first time, non-winning finalists were awarded financial support. In fact, 56 finalists each received a development grant of Rp500,000. A Shining Star Named Daniel Among the winners was Daniel Satria Ramadhan, the champion of the Junior High category. Who is Daniel? He is a student from the Integrated Disability Junior High School of Bekasi City. Daniel is visually impaired. He learned to read the Qur’an using Braille Qur’an editions, supported by audio resources from YouTube and Qur’an applications, under the guidance of his school teacher. By the will of Allah, Daniel won first place in the boys’ Junior High category. His victory surprised many, proving that limitations did not hinder him from excelling in Qur’an memorization. Daniel’s success serves as a powerful reminder to all of us, blessed with full physical abilities, to be even more grateful and diligent in our efforts to memorize and live by the Qur’an. Ramadhan That Remains Amazing This Ramadhan was truly special: a new team, a new school, and a mission to find new students—accompanied by unexpected blessings from Allah. We were able to explore our full potential, travel across Bekasi City to reach new families, and contribute to the world of education. Truly, Allah has blessed us with opportunities to build and grow this school, supported wholeheartedly by many dedicated individuals. Of course, the search for new students is ongoing, and imperfections remain, for perfection belongs only to Allah. But we firmly believe: “My strengths belong to the team, and my shortcomings will be covered by the team.” Congratulations to the Solid Team of Al Siddiq International School For us, Syawal is the milestone of new beginnings and future success.
