Creative Recycling with Reusable Plastic Materials

Bekasi – February 2024 As part of the school’s mission to care for the environment, the latest Project-Based Learning (PjBL) activity for Al Siddiq International Primary School involved students collecting used plastic bottles and other reusable plastics to create useful new products. The practical PjBL session took place at the school on 31 January 2024. The students produced a variety of creative works, including pencil holders, stationery containers, plastic flowers, pinwheels, and more. Each student made one creation to be assessed by the teachers, with creativity, neatness, and originality serving as the main evaluation criteria. This activity aimed to encourage students to repurpose reusable plastic waste into something functional, thereby helping to reduce rubbish disposal and protect the environment from the long-term dangers of non-biodegradable plastic waste. Let’s Get to Know the Pilot Profession!

Bekasi – January 2024 As part of a hands-on learning activity to explore different careers, Al Siddiq International Primary School held an event titled “Career Class: I’m a Pilot” on Thursday, 25 January 2024, at the Al Siddiq International School campus. The event, attended by all primary students, featured a special guest — Captain Gilang Danar Antias, an active pilot and parent of both Kindergarten and Primary students at Al Siddiq. During the session, Captain Gilang shared many fascinating stories from his experiences flying aircraft. He showed photos of his activities in the cockpit and played videos of plane take-offs and landings. He also introduced the different types of aircraft, explaining that flying each one requires a specific set of specialised skills. In the question-and-answer session, Captain Gilang rewarded students who bravely asked questions with personalised name stickers as a token of appreciation. At the end of the event, the children were excited to take photos with Captain Gilang and felt delighted to have learned so much about the pilot profession — a dream job for many of them.
