Supervision to Improve Teacher Quality at Al Siddiq Primary School

In an effort to enhance the quality of its teachers, Al Siddiq International Primary School conducted a teacher performance supervision programme from 23 September to 4 October 2024. The activity focused particularly on new teachers, with a total of 18 participants. The supervision process took place over approximately two weeks and involved Ms. Reni Oktavia, S.Si., M.Pd., the Principal of Al Siddiq International Primary School, and Ustadz Abdullah Haris, Lc., M.Pd., the Director of Education at Al Siddiq International School. Teacher performance and quality were assessed through a process known as supervision. Teacher supervision is a process of observation, evaluation, and guidance carried out by the school principal or educational supervisor to ensure that teachers perform their duties and responsibilities effectively in the classroom. The purpose of supervision is to provide constructive feedback to teachers on their teaching performance and to help them develop the skills and competencies needed to create effective learning experiences. Supervision is not merely administrative but also educational and supportive in nature. It involves open dialogue and collaboration between the supervisor and the teacher to improve teaching quality, which ultimately contributes to the enhancement of overall education standards in the school. In classroom practice, there are several teaching criteria that teachers must fulfil during lessons, such as planning lessons systematically and clearly, mastering and delivering the subject matter effectively, maintaining discipline and managing the class with high competence, conducting mid-session evaluations, and integrating Al-Qur’an internalisation as part of each lesson. Upon completing the supervision activities, Ms. Reni Oktavia, S.Si., M.Pd., the Principal of Al Siddiq International Primary School, expressed her appreciation: “Alhamdulillah, the teacher supervision process went well. I hope our teachers at Al Siddiq International Primary School remain consistent in doing their best during the teaching and learning process in the classroom.” With structured and well-directed supervision, it is expected that all teachers at Al Siddiq International Primary School will continue to grow into high-quality educators, ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of teaching and learning. Al Siddiq Primary School Goes to Seaworld & Ocean Dream Samudra – Ancol

Learning is a process of building knowledge. It does not only take place in the classroom — students also need to see and experience what they have learned directly in the real world. This idea formed the basis for Al Siddiq International Primary School’s Educational Field Trip to Seaworld and Ocean Dream Samudra – Ancol, held on 19 September 2024. The field trip was attended by all students from Years 1, 2, 4, and 5. The event was also organised to mark the completion of the Mid-Semester Summative Assessment, which had taken place the previous week. The students were extremely enthusiastic about joining this trip, as it provided not only an enjoyable experience but also a well-deserved break after preparing for and completing their assessments. Ms Reni Oktavia, S.Si., M.Pd., the Head of Al Siddiq International Primary School, explained that the field trip was integrated with several subjects, including Social Studies, Citizenship Education, Science, and others. “Learning does not only happen inside the classroom — it can also take place while playing and exploring outside. After finishing their mid-term assessments, students also need time to refresh their minds. This activity is important as it provides a learning experience through play while helping students, especially Year 1 pupils, develop independence,”said Ms Reni. Each year, Al-Siddiq Primary School holds a Field Trip involving all students. In 2023, the school visited Animalium and Inagro in Bogor. In the future, Al-Siddiq International School plans to continue organising Educational Field Trips to various destinations that provide enriching and educational experiences for its students. By.
