Three Students from SMP Al Siddiq International School Participate in the 2026 Investiture of 1,251 Garuda Scouts in Bekasi City

The Netraza Multipurpose Hall in Jatibening served as the venue for the 2026 Garuda Scout Investiture Ceremony organised by the Bekasi City Scout Branch Council (Kwarcab Gerakan Pramuka Kota Bekasi). A total of 1,251 Garuda Scouts from various scouting levels were officially invested during the event, representing the highest honour within the Indonesian Scout Movement. The ceremony was attended by Scouts from the Siaga, Penggalang, Penegak, and Pandega levels as part of the Scout Movement’s structured character development programme. Achieving the status of a Garuda Scout is a symbol of distinction and recognition for an individual’s dedication to developing skills, character, leadership, and a spirit of service to the community. Representing SMP Al Siddiq International School at the event were Afika Aisyah Humaira, Alanza Lareina Clarisa, and Al-Kautsar. The participation of these three students is a source of pride for the school and serves as tangible evidence of the success of its character development programme through scouting education. The Garuda Scout Award is the highest recognition within the Indonesian Scout Movement and is granted to Scouts who have fulfilled both the general and specific requirements while demonstrating a strong commitment to the values of citizenship, discipline, responsibility, and leadership. Prior to their investiture, all participants underwent a rigorous selection process that included training, skills assessments, character development programmes, and community service activities over several months. This demanding process is one of the reasons why Garuda Scouts are recognised for their outstanding quality, resilience, and exemplary character. In his remarks, Endin Samsudin, Secretary of the Branch Scout Advisory Council of Bekasi City, stated that Garuda Scouts should serve as role models within their schools, families, and communities. “Being a Garuda Scout opens opportunities in education. These opportunities should be utilised to their fullest potential,” said Endin Samsudin. He also emphasised that Garuda Scout status provides broader educational opportunities, including special admission pathways for Penegak Garuda Scouts to pursue higher education through achievement-based entry schemes without the need for entrance examinations. The investiture ceremony was not merely a formal occasion but an important milestone in developing a generation of young people who are disciplined, independent, principled, and prepared to face future challenges. Through scouting education, students are nurtured to develop social awareness, leadership qualities, a spirit of cooperation, and a deep sense of patriotism. The Bekasi City Government continues to support and strengthen scouting programmes to encourage more young people to excel and make positive contributions to their communities and society as a whole. For SMP Al Siddiq International School, the participation of Afika Aisyah Humaira, Alanza Lareina Clarisa, and Al-Kautsar in the Garuda Scout Investiture Ceremony serves as further motivation to strengthen character education within the school community. Education is not focused solely on academic achievement but also on developing resilient, disciplined, responsible individuals with strong leadership qualities. It is hoped that this achievement will inspire other students to continue developing their potential, striving for excellence, and actively contributing to society through the values and spirit of scouting.By Retno Suzanne Handayani, Lc, M.Pd

Student Council Entrepreneurship Training at SMP Al Siddiq International School: Building Leadership, Independence, and Global Competencies

SMP Al Siddiq International School remains committed to providing an education that extends beyond academic excellence to encompass character development, leadership, and essential life skills. One tangible expression of this commitment is the entrepreneurship training programme for Student Council (OSIS) members, implemented through the direct and structured management of the school canteen. Through this programme, Student Council members are actively involved in operating the school canteen as part of their character development, entrepreneurial training, and self-management education from an early age. The activities are conducted on a rotational basis and follow an internship-style approach, ensuring that all participating students gain first-hand experience in customer service, small business management, communication, and workplace responsibility. Through this practical experience, students learn the importance of discipline, trustworthiness, teamwork, quality service, and decision-making in real-life situations. They are also trained to manage their time effectively, handle basic financial matters, communicate professionally with both peers and teachers, and understand the fundamentals of modern entrepreneurship—skills that are increasingly important in preparing for future challenges. This entrepreneurship programme forms an integral part of the life skills and global skills development initiatives at SMP Al Siddiq International School. In today’s rapidly changing and highly competitive global environment, the school recognises the importance of nurturing students who are independent, creative, innovative, and equipped with strong leadership qualities. For this reason, learning is not confined to the classroom but is also enriched through practical experiences that help build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility. In addition to developing basic business skills, the programme aims to instil an understanding that every role requires responsibility, honesty, and professionalism. These values form an essential part of the Islamic character education continuously promoted within the school community. Through this initiative, students are expected to grow into a generation that possesses a balanced combination of academic, spiritual, social, and global competencies. The school hopes that this Student Council entrepreneurship training programme will provide valuable experiences that help students prepare for their future lives. The goal is not only to develop academically successful learners but also to nurture a generation of young people who are independent, creative, productive, and ready to thrive in a globalised world with strong leadership qualities and exemplary moral character.By Retno Suzanne Handayani, Lc, M.Pd

Weaving Together the Rich Cultures of Java with the Students of Al Siddiq International Kindergarten

Since 18 May 2026, the students of TK Al Siddiq International have been exploring a fascinating and colourful cultural theme. This year’s theme focuses on Javanese culture, encompassing the traditions of West Java, Central Java, and East Java. Learning activities have been conducted in each classroom in a fun, interactive, and enthusiastic atmosphere. Through a variety of creative, age-appropriate activities, the children are introduced to the rich cultural diversity of Indonesia. Throughout this cultural theme, the students learn about many aspects of the cultural heritage of Java. They are introduced to traditional musical instruments such as the angklung, gamelan, and kendang. In addition, the children learn about regional delicacies, including gudeg, serabi, klepon, pecel, and many others. They are also introduced to a variety of batik patterns from different regions of Java, each with its own distinctive characteristics and meanings. Through these activities, the children learn that Indonesia possesses a rich and beautiful cultural heritage that deserves to be celebrated and preserved. Learning about culture from an early age provides many benefits for children’s development. It helps them appreciate differences, develop a love for their nation’s culture, and foster a sense of pride in Indonesia’s cultural heritage. Furthermore, these activities contribute to the development of social, language, motor, and creative skills. Whether playing traditional musical instruments, dancing, or creating culture-themed artwork, the children learn teamwork, self-confidence, and the courage to perform in front of others. Throughout the learning process, teachers and students work together to prepare various performances for the culmination of the cultural theme, which will be showcased during a special arts performance. Each class practises enthusiastically to present its best performance. Some students rehearse musical dramas, others practise traditional dances, sing traditional songs, or take on roles in cultural stories. The rehearsal sessions themselves become enjoyable learning experiences, as the children learn while playing, exploring, and expressing themselves creatively. The cultural showcase is one of the most eagerly anticipated moments for both students and teachers. Through the arts performance, the children have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned to their parents and friends. More than simply a performance, the event serves as a meaningful and enjoyable way of instilling a love for culture from an early age. The values of togetherness, creativity, and appreciation for Indonesian culture grow through every stage of the journey shared by the children and teachers. It is hoped that this year’s cultural theme will become a valuable and memorable experience for the students of TK Al Siddiq International. By learning about the cultures of West Java, Central Java, and East Java, the children come to understand that diversity is a precious treasure that must be protected and preserved. Through these early experiences, they begin to grow into a generation that loves its national culture and takes pride in being part of Indonesia.By Inka Amalia, S.Pd
