Students of SMP Al Siddiq International School once again demonstrated their leadership, independence, and exemplary character through their participation in the Garuda Scout Assessment and Selection Programme at the Pondok Gede Scout Branch Council (Kwarran Pondok Gede) level. The programme took place on 23–24 May 2026 at Villa Yasfi.
The representatives from SMP Al Siddiq International School who took part in the programme were Afika Aisyah Humaira, Alanza Lareina Clarisa, and Al-Kautsar. This activity formed an important part of the school’s efforts to develop students’ character, leadership qualities, discipline, and social responsibility through scouting education.
The programme began with a trek from the Horse Field to Villa Yasfi, designed to strengthen physical endurance, teamwork, and perseverance. Upon arrival, participants took part in a series of Garuda Scout assessments and selection activities, which were conducted systematically and with a strong emphasis on discipline.
During the assessment process, participants were evaluated in various scouting competencies, including semaphore signalling, knot-tying and ropework, public speaking, character presentation, and other scouting skills. They were also assessed on their communication abilities, leadership potential, creativity, and exemplary conduct throughout the programme.
The event focused not only on technical scouting skills but also included a community service activity as a practical demonstration of social responsibility and service to others. This component reflects an important aspect of the Garuda Scout ethos, which seeks to develop individuals who excel not only in ability but also in compassion, empathy, and humanitarian values.
The programme became even more engaging through creative activities, including the making of snack bouquets and talent performances that showcased students’ artistic abilities, public speaking skills, and self-confidence. A spirit of friendship and togetherness was further strengthened during the campfire evening held at Villa Yasfi. The campfire served as a meaningful opportunity for reflection, the strengthening of solidarity, and the reinforcement of leadership and teamwork values among the participants.
Through this scouting camp and Garuda Scout selection programme, SMP Al Siddiq International School continues to demonstrate its commitment to nurturing a generation of young people who are resilient, disciplined, independent, creative, socially responsible, and prepared to become future leaders with strong Islamic values and a global outlook.
It is hoped that this valuable experience will mark the beginning of a new generation of Garuda Scouts from SMP Al Siddiq International School who will serve as role models within their school, community, and nation.
