Learning to Count Through Creative Weather-Themed Activities

On Friday, 5 June 2026, the Kindergarten B students of Al Siddiq International took part in an enjoyable and creative numeracy lesson in the classroom. The activity was designed to help children recognise numbers and practise counting while working creatively with their classmates. Through engaging tasks, the children were able to learn in an active, enjoyable, and imaginative environment. The lesson began with the teacher reviewing the topic studied during the previous week, which was weather. The teacher then showed an educational video introducing different types of weather around the world, including sunny, rainy, snowy, and windy conditions. The children watched enthusiastically and eagerly shared their own experiences and knowledge about the various types of weather they had seen or learned about. Next, the teacher explained the activity and divided the children into eight groups, each consisting of two students. Ice lolly sticks and stones were distributed as the main materials for the project. Each group was asked to use their imagination to create one of the weather conditions they had learned about using the provided materials. The children began discussing ideas and working together to turn their concepts into simple creative artworks. The children produced a variety of interesting creations. One group arranged ice lolly sticks into the shape of a house and added small stones on top to represent snow, creating a snowy weather scene. Another group used stones to form a tree and arranged additional stones to resemble raindrops, representing rainy weather. Through this activity, the children not only strengthened their understanding of weather concepts but also developed their imagination, creativity, coordination skills, and ability to collaborate with their peers. After completing their artwork, the teacher provided each group with a sheet of paper. At this stage, one child was responsible for counting the number of ice lolly sticks and stones used, while their partner recorded the results. This activity helped the children develop sequential counting skills, understand number concepts, and practise teamwork when completing a task together. The children were enthusiastic as they counted and carefully checked that their totals were correct. The activity continued with a presentation session. Each group took turns presenting their artwork to the teacher and their classmates. They explained the type of weather they had created and stated the number of ice lolly sticks and stones used in their project. Through these presentations, the children developed self-confidence, communication skills, and the courage to express their ideas in front of others. The day’s learning activities provided many benefits for the children’s development. In addition to improving numeracy skills, the activities helped enhance creativity, imagination, motor coordination, teamwork, and communication abilities. By integrating learning with play and creative projects, the children found it easier to understand the concepts while thoroughly enjoying the learning process. The session concluded with the children working together to tidy up all the materials they had used, followed by a closing prayer before going home. The day ended in a calm, orderly, and enjoyable atmosphere, filled with enthusiasm for learning.By Inka Amalia, S.Pd

The programme commenced in the morning with a solemn opening ceremony. Students arrived dressed in their finest attire, accompanied by their parents, who eagerly attended to witness their children’s achievements. The hall was filled with smiles of joy and heartfelt emotions as families reflected on the learning journey completed throughout the academic year. The event continued with speeches from the School Director, school supervisor, and representatives of the school leadership team, who expressed their appreciation for the students’ dedication, enthusiasm for learning, and personal growth. In their remarks, they emphasised that education is not solely about academic achievement but also about character development and strengthening Qur’anic values as the foundation of life. One of the highlights of the event was the academic recognition ceremony, which served as an appreciation of the students’ efforts and accomplishments throughout the 2025–2026 academic year. Applause and joyful cheers from parents echoed throughout the hall as students were called forward to receive their awards and certificates of recognition. The atmosphere became even more emotional during the Tasmi’ and Crown Presentation Ceremony. During this special moment, students who had completed the memorisation of portions of the Holy Qur’an, beginning with Juz 30 and beyond, received recognition for their dedication and perseverance in memorising and preserving the words of Allah. In a touching symbolic gesture, several students presented crowns to their parents as an expression of respect, gratitude, and appreciation for the prayers, support, and sacrifices they had received throughout their educational journey. Many tears were shed when one student embraced their parents following the crown presentation. The moment served as a powerful reminder that a child’s success is inseparable from the love, prayers, and sacrifices of their parents, who faithfully accompany them every step of the way. Many attendees were deeply moved by the affection and closeness displayed during this meaningful ceremony. The programme then continued with an inspiring tausiyah (Islamic motivational talk), which conveyed important messages about the significance of instilling Qur’anic values from an early age and nurturing a generation that is knowledgeable, morally upright, and equipped with strong leadership qualities. The tausiyah provided a meaningful conclusion, offering both comfort and inspiration to everyone present. The Celebration of Acknowledgement and Appreciation for the 2025–2026 Academic Year officially concluded at 12:00 p.m. WIB. The entire event proceeded smoothly and was filled with meaningful experiences and cherished memories. The First Graduation Ceremony of Al Siddiq International Junior High School: A Historic Milestone in Nurturing Qur’anic and High-Achieving Generations

Al Siddiq International Junior High School is set to make history by holding its first-ever Grand Tahfidz and Academic Graduation Ceremony for its inaugural graduating cohort on 1 June 2026. A total of 17 students will take part in the academic graduation procession, marking the successful completion of their lower secondary education journey. This occasion is far more than a graduation ceremony; it represents a significant milestone in the development of an educational institution that, within a relatively short period, has demonstrated remarkable growth and achieved numerous accomplishments in academics, character development, and Qur’anic memorisation. The Head of Al Siddiq International Junior High School stated that the school’s journey since its establishment has been filled with both opportunities and challenges. In its first year, student enrolment was still limited, with approximately 20 students. However, this small number became a strong foundation for building a high-quality, personalised educational culture focused on developing globally minded Muslim generations. “Our journey began with a small step. Today, we are witnessing how that small step has grown into a remarkable leap of achievement,” he explained. As part of its commitment to educational excellence, Al Siddiq International Junior High School offers a range of flagship programmes designed to prepare students for the challenges of the modern era while maintaining strong Islamic values. One of these programmes is the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) extracurricular programme, which focuses on strengthening students’ digital and technological literacy. Through this programme, students are introduced to coding, simple application development, educational game design, and the fundamentals of web development. This approach not only enhances technical skills but also cultivates computational thinking, creativity, and critical thinking from an early age. Alongside academic development, the Tahfidz programme serves as a central pillar in nurturing students’ character and spirituality. The programme aims for students to memorise a minimum of five juz of the Holy Qur’an during their three years of study. Impressively, several Year 8 students have already exceeded this target and undertaken their Tahfidz assessments ahead of schedule. The school firmly believes that every child possesses unique potential that should be nurtured and developed. Therefore, education at Al Siddiq International Junior High School is delivered through a personalised and human-centred approach, without imposing a single standard of success on all students. This philosophy is reflected in the diverse achievements of its students. Many excel in Qur’anic memorisation while simultaneously demonstrating talent in the arts, vocal performance, leadership, and academics. This multidimensional approach has become a distinctive characteristic of student development within the school. Nevertheless, the quality standards of the Tahfidz programme remain exceptionally rigorous. Every memorisation milestone must pass through structured assessment stages and cannot simply be advanced without thorough evaluation. “If a student has memorised Juz 30, they must first undergo an assessment. Only after demonstrating strong mastery may they proceed to the next juz. Every stage must be completed thoroughly and with precision (mutqin),” explained the school administration. This year’s graduation ceremony features several outstanding Tahfidz achievements. One Year 9 student, Kenzie, has successfully memorised eight juz of the Holy Qur’an. Meanwhile, Fruomoasa Karinadia has completed six juz and has undertaken a Tahfidz assessment with the Bekasi City Qur’anic Recitation Development Institute (LPTQ). Graduates of the Tahfidz programme will be grouped according to their memorisation achievements, ranging from two juz and three juz to higher levels of memorisation. Uniquely, the ceremony will not be merely symbolic; invited guests will have the opportunity to listen directly to a live Tasmi’ recitation performed by one of the students as authentic evidence of their achievement. In addition to recognising academic and non-academic excellence, the school places significant value on awards that acknowledge students’ effort, character, manners (adab), discipline, perseverance, and personal growth throughout their educational journey. This inaugural graduation ceremony is expected to serve as both a moment of reflection and a foundation for future progress. With a steadily increasing student population and growing public trust, Al Siddiq International Junior High School remains optimistic about its continued development as a leading educational institution capable of nurturing Qur’anic, high-achieving, and character-driven generations who are prepared to meet global challenges. This historic occasion reaffirms that every great journey begins with a small step—and today, that small step has transformed into a proud legacy of achievement.By Retno Suzanne Handayani, S.Pd

On Wednesday, 3 June 2026, the Kindergarten B students of Al Siddiq International participated in a learning activity using the Pippa and Pop book in their classroom. This activity was designed to help children recognise and understand English vocabulary in a fun and developmentally appropriate way. Through stories, educational videos, and workbook activities, the children were encouraged to learn English actively and interactively. The lesson began with the teacher reviewing the topic that had been studied during the previous week, which was weather. The children were invited to recall different types of weather they had already learned, such as sunny, rainy, windy, and snowy. The children enthusiastically answered questions and confidently repeated the vocabulary they had learned before. Next, the teacher asked the children to open the relevant pages in their Pippa and Pop books. To strengthen their understanding, the teacher played the educational video provided as part of the programme. Through the engaging and colourful video, the children were able to see examples of English vocabulary being used in more realistic contexts. This activity helped them become more familiar with English pronunciation and the use of simple sentences. After watching the educational video, the teacher reviewed the story together with the children. A question-and-answer session was then conducted to assess their understanding of the material. The children were encouraged to answer questions, recall vocabulary, and relate the story to their everyday experiences. The learning atmosphere was warm and interactive, with the children showing great enthusiasm to participate. During the main activity, the children completed workbook exercises included in the Pippa and Pop programme. They engaged in a variety of tasks, including writing, matching pictures, and colouring according to the given instructions. These activities not only reinforced their understanding of English vocabulary but also helped develop their fine motor skills through careful writing and colouring. Through learning with the Pippa and Pop programme, the children gained many benefits. In addition to expanding their English vocabulary, the activities helped them become more familiar with listening to and understanding simple English sentences, enabling them to imitate and use them in daily conversations. Furthermore, the writing and colouring activities supported the development of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Overall, the lesson was enjoyable and provided a meaningful learning experience for all students.By Inka Amalia, S.Pd
