Introducing Coding Concepts through Colours and Vowels

On Tuesday, 23 September 2025, the Kindergarten A pupils of Al Siddiq International took part in an engaging Literacy class activity that introduced them to the basic concepts of coding. This activity was specially designed to present the fundamentals of programming in a simple and enjoyable way, by linking colours with vowel letters. The children learned to recognise patterns, establish connections between symbols (vowels) and specific colours, and complete structured instructions. The session began with the teacher distributing worksheets containing a series of vowel letters (a, i, u, e, o) to each child. Each vowel was assigned a specific colour code — for example, the letter “a” was coloured red, “i” blue, and so on. The teacher then explained the process step by step, using easy-to-understand examples. The children were encouraged to identify the letters, match them with the corresponding colour, and colour them in according to the code. After the explanation and demonstration, the teacher gave the children full independence to work on their worksheets. This stage helped develop independence, memory skills, and the ability to follow instructions autonomously. The children appeared enthusiastic and focused as they worked, even discussing with one another to make sure the colours they chose matched the correct vowel letters. Introducing the concept of coding from an early age offers many valuable benefits. One key advantage is developing logical and systematic thinking, which forms the foundation of problem-solving skills. The children also learned to recognise patterns and symbols while strengthening their early literacy skills in a fun way. Furthermore, such activities enhance concentration and self-confidence as children complete tasks independently. Overall, this activity of introducing coding through colours and vowels not only broadened the children’s knowledge but also laid an early foundation for essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and technological literacy. It served as a joyful first step in exploring the digital world through an age-appropriate and creative approach.By Inka Amalia, S.Pd

Capturing Family Moments through Frame-Making

On Monday, 22 September 2025, the Kindergarten A pupils of Al Siddiq International enjoyed a fun and meaningful Art & Creativity lesson — making family photo frames. The activity took place in the Art Room, guided by both the class teacher and the art teacher. The children appeared enthusiastic as they followed each step of the process. The session began with the distribution of a sheet of paper featuring a picture of a house for each child. This paper served as the base for the photo frame they were going to create. The children were then asked to colour the picture of the house according to their own creativity. This colouring activity not only helped develop their fine motor skills but also provided a medium for them to express their imagination and emotions about the concept of “home.” After colouring, the teacher guided the children in cutting and folding specific parts of the paper. These folds were designed to form a frame resembling a house, where the family photo would later be placed. The children were visibly excited as they watched their work begin to take shape like a real photo frame. The final step was to attach their family photo inside the completed frame. The teacher had prepared each child’s photo in advance, collected earlier from their parents. With great pride, the children carefully placed their family photos into the frames they had decorated and assembled themselves. This moment became deeply personal and touching, as they could see their own family captured within a piece of art they had created. The purpose of this activity was to foster a sense of love and closeness towards their immediate family. Through it, the children were encouraged to recognise and appreciate their family members while understanding that family is the first place where they learn, grow, and feel safe. Additionally, the activity helped strengthen hand-eye coordination, introduced shapes and colours, and enhanced their ability to follow step-by-step instructions. Overall, the family photo frame-making activity was both enjoyable and educational. Beyond producing a creative artwork to take home, the children also learned to appreciate the important role their family plays in their everyday lives.By Umair Shoddiq, S.I.Kom

Several students from the school took part in ESPECTO (El-Hassan Sport and Academic Competition) in various categories, including MHQ (Memorisation of the Holy Qur’an), English Storytelling, and Squarth (Quiz Competition), held on 26–27 October 2024, and proudly brought home remarkable results. Students from Years 4 and 5 of Al Siddiq International Secondary School reached the semi-finals in the Squarth competition, while a Year 5 student achieved 2nd place in the Storytelling contest, surpassing 23 other participants — a truly admirable achievement. The ESPECTO (El-Hassan Sport and Academic Competition) has been organised annually since 2012 by Pondok Pesantren Modern Al-Hassan, receiving enthusiastic participation from a wide range of schools. The competition is open to both primary (SD) and secondary (SMP) students and includes various contests such as Futsal, Badminton, MHQ, Calligraphy, Squarth, Speech, Poetry, Storytelling, Poster Design, and Photography. ESPECTO carries the slogan “Rise your passion, show your best action to be champion,” encouraging students to awaken their spirit and give their best performance to become champions. Alhamdulillah, Al Siddiq International Secondary School has demonstrated its best action and brought home a trophy in this year’s event. Three students from SD Al Siddiq International — Omar Sani Nasri, Khanino Amal Prasojo, and Ibrahim — successfully advanced to the semi-final round of the Squarth (Quiz) competition for Years 4 and 5. Although they did not reach the final stage, their achievement of reaching the semi-finals was already a great accomplishment and a proud moment for the school. One of the Squarth coaches, Ustadz Abdullah Syafii, Lc., who also teaches Islamic Education at the school, shared his thoughts: “The event was very engaging, encouraging students’ interest in the subjects tested, such as Mathematics, Social Studies, and Islamic Studies. After the competition, they became even more enthusiastic about learning. Personally, I hope we can participate in more events like this in the future and achieve even better results.” In the Storytelling competition, SD Al Siddiq International was represented by two students from Years 4 and 5 — Queensha Nahda Permana and Fathimah Tsabitah. Both students performed excellently, with Queensha Nahda Permana proudly earning 2nd place. This is a remarkable accomplishment, especially considering that SD Al Siddiq International is a school that has not yet reached its second year of establishment, yet its students have already brought honour to the school. The Storytelling coach, Ms. Elsa Violita, S.S., M.S., an English teacher at SD Al Siddiq International, expressed her pride in their achievement: “I feel truly happy and proud of what they’ve accomplished. From the beginning, they were very enthusiastic when chosen to represent the school. Despite their busy schedules, they still managed to make time for practice. Their success is the result of their hard work and courage to take part in the competition. I’m especially proud of Queensha, who was initially doubtful during practice but gave her best performance during the preliminary round and went on to win 2nd place. I hope this achievement motivates them to keep improving and growing.” May this remarkable achievement serve as an inspiration for other students at Al Siddiq International Secondary School to continue striving for excellence and developing their potential. The school hopes that in future competitions, Al Siddiq students will achieve even greater results and that this success marks the beginning of many more accomplishments to come. The event, held from 30–31 October 2024, was attended by all students and teachers of SMP Al-Siddiq. Carrying the theme “Learning Beyond the Classroom”, ESNO 2024 aimed to provide students with a different kind of learning experience through outdoor activities. Over two days, students participated in various engaging sessions designed to develop leadership skills, teamwork, and character building. Among the activities were Active Arabic and English sessions, team-building exercises, educational games, nature exploration, and group discussions led by supervising teachers. In his opening remarks, Mr. Yusuf Yudhana, Principal of SMP Al-Siddiq, expressed that ESNO 2024 was not merely an opportunity for fun but also a means to foster self-confidence and strengthen bonds among students. “Activities like this train our students to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and take initiative. Role Play in Kindergarten Literacy Learning

On Wednesday, 30 October 2024, the Kindergarten students of Al Siddiq International School participated in a literacy learning activity using the Role Play method in the classroom, with the theme “My Family.” The activity began with a recall session on family members that the children had previously learned. The teacher then introduced simple English sentences such as “Who is he/she/they?” and “He is/She is/They are.” This method helped the children understand basic family concepts while also practising their English language skills in an interactive and engaging way. The role play began with one student asking another, “Who is he?” The student being asked then responded with a simple answer such as, “He is Brother.” The activity continued in turns until every student had the opportunity to both ask and answer questions, allowing them to practise listening and speaking skills in a fun, contextual setting. Through this interactive activity, the children not only learned to recognise family members but also developed their communication abilities and teamwork with their peers. This made the session an effective approach for enhancing both literacy development and social skills in young learners. By Inka Amalia, S.Pd

Al Siddiq International Primary School Student Advances to Spelling Bee Final

A Year 5 student from Al Siddiq International Primary School successfully advanced to the final round of the Spelling Bee Competition (Group C Category: Years 5–6 Primary School) organised by English First (EF) Kalimalang, outperforming 47 other participants. The competition took place on Saturday, 25 October 2024, at the EF Kalimalang centre. The Spelling Bee competition was held to showcase children’s ability to spell words in English correctly. Organised by English First, this event is recognised as one of the largest spelling competitions in Indonesia. The main goal of the competition is to improve children’s English proficiency and self-confidence. Participants are given English words and must spell them letter by letter accurately. The level of difficulty varies depending on the group and stage. The EF Spelling Bee consists of three rounds — the Preliminary, Semi-final, and Final — and is open to students from both public and private primary and secondary schools in the surrounding areas. The Al Siddiq International Primary School student who reached the final stage of the Spelling Bee is Percy William. Although he did not take the top spot, Percy successfully demonstrated his skills and placed among the Top 5 finalists, defeating 47 other contestants in Group C (Years 5–6). This is a remarkable achievement for Al Siddiq International Primary School, especially considering that the school has been established for less than two years. The Spelling Bee coach, Ms. Elsa Violita, S.S., M.S., who is also the English teacher at Al Siddiq International, expressed her pride in Percy’s performance. She shared, “I’m so proud of Percy. Even though he has a foreign background and speaks English in daily life, he still showed great enthusiasm and discipline during practice. He remained humble and didn’t underestimate his competitors. Since it was his first time joining a Spelling Bee, he felt a bit nervous and wasn’t yet familiar with the difficulty level of the words. Although he didn’t win first place, reaching the final round and making it into the Top 5 is already a wonderful accomplishment for him and the school. I hope this will be a great start for Percy to continue improving his skills.” May this outstanding achievement serve as an inspiration for other students of Al Siddiq International Primary School to keep striving for excellence and developing their potential. Hopefully, in future competitions, Al Siddiq students will achieve even greater success, marking the beginning of many more remarkable accomplishments in the years ahead. Al Siddiq International Primary School Wins Third Runner-Up in Qur’an Recitation Competition

Al Siddiq International Primary School has once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment. Two students from Year 1 and Year 4 proudly won Third Runner-Up in the Qur’an Recitation (Tilawah) Competition held on 21 September 2024 at Eureka Bookhouse, Kalibata, South Jakarta. The competition was organised by Eureka Bookhouse in collaboration with Erlangga Publishers to commemorate the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The event was open to primary school students, divided into two categories: Years 1–3, who recited and memorised Surahs An-Nas to Az-Zalzalah, and Years 4–6, who performed Surahs Al-Bayyinah to Al-A‘la. The competition welcomed participants from both public and private Primary Schools (SD) and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) across Indonesia. Al Siddiq International Primary School sent 12 talented students to represent the school. During the competition, there were approximately 33 participants in the Years 1–3 category and 15 participants in the Years 4–6 category. The judging criteria included fluency, tajwid (pronunciation and articulation), melodic recitation, and presentation neatness. Two of Al Siddiq’s representatives, Khansa Azkadina Aisy (Year 1C) and Sheema (Year 4), both earned Third Runner-Up in their respective categories — a truly outstanding achievement that brought pride to the entire school community. The students were trained by their respective Qur’an teachers, with Ms. Nadya, Lc., serving as one of the Tilawah competition mentors. She shared her thoughts: “The event was very enjoyable — the children were all enthusiastic about taking part, and it became even more exciting with a prize quiz at the end. However, the only challenge was that there were too many participants in the Year 1–3 category, which made the children a bit tired from waiting. I hope this achievement motivates other students to reach for their own success.” The Principal of Al Siddiq International Primary School, Ms. Reni Oktavia, S.Sos., M.Pd., also expressed her gratitude, saying: “Jazakumullahu khairan to everyone — the whole team, especially Mr. Dede, Mr. Asep, and Ms. Nadya, for accompanying and supporting our students. Let’s continue to move forward together with unity and success.” May this proud achievement serve as an inspiration for other students of Al Siddiq International Primary School to continue striving for excellence and developing their talents. It is hoped that in future competitions, Al Siddiq students will achieve even greater results — marking the beginning of many more remarkable accomplishments in the years to come. Observing the Potential of Al-Siddiq International Secondary School Students

SMP Al-Siddiq International School remains committed to improving the quality of education and character development among its students through a variety of innovative programmes. One of the regular initiatives held every Wednesday morning is the Student Profiling activity. This programme aims to monitor each student’s academic, social, and emotional development, while also helping them to optimise their personal potential. The Student Profiling sessions involve form teachers, subject teachers, and guidance counsellors, who engage directly with the students. Each teacher is given the opportunity to share observations, discuss challenges encountered, and collaborate on strategies to enhance both learning outcomes and personal growth. During these sessions, teachers not only assess academic performance but also identify students’ interests, talents, and specific needs, in order to provide more targeted guidance. In addition, students are encouraged to reflect on their own behaviour and achievements, helping them become more aware of their strengths and areas for improvement. This Student Profiling programme is also part of the Learning Community at SMP Al-Siddiq International School. Within this community, every teacher plays an active role in supporting a more personalised and effective learning process. Each Profiling meeting is recorded in detail, covering aspects such as academic progress, student interests, and recommendations for future development. This ensures that every student’s growth is monitored consistently and continuously. The outcomes of the Student Profiling sessions are then summarised in a comprehensive report presented to both the school management and parents. The report includes evaluations of students’ strengths, challenges, and suggested strategies for maximising their potential. Through this approach, the school aims to create an adaptive learning environment that supports student success—both academically and in terms of character development.
