What Do We Need When It Rains? Making a 3D Origami Umbrella

An art lesson for TK B (Kindergarten B) at Al Siddiq International was conducted on Wednesday, 29th April 2026 in the classroom. The activity involved all TK B pupils in a calm yet enjoyable atmosphere. The teacher prepared an activity that not only encouraged creativity but also developed essential basic skills for children’s growth. This activity aimed to train children’s concentration in following instructions and to develop fine motor skills through paper-folding tasks. Using origami, the children were guided to create a simple 3D umbrella. The activity was designed to help them focus on each step while improving hand–eye coordination. The lesson began with the teacher inviting the children to recall their previous topic on weather. From the various types of weather they had learned, the discussion was then directed towards rainy weather. The children were encouraged to think together about what is needed when it rains, eventually identifying an umbrella as one of the essential items. After that, the children began making umbrellas using origami paper. They were given the freedom to choose colours according to their preferences, resulting in unique creations. Working in small groups, the children followed the teacher’s step-by-step instructions to fold the origami into 3D umbrella shapes. Once the umbrellas were completed, the children continued the activity by attaching their origami creations onto drawing paper that they had previously prepared with a rainy-day theme. This activity helped them connect their artwork with the concepts they had learned, while also providing space to express their imagination. Through this lesson, the children not only learned to create artwork but also developed patience, the ability to follow instructions, and teamwork skills. The supportive classroom environment boosted their confidence in creating, making the learning process both enjoyable and meaningful.By Inka Amalia, S. Pd

Al Siddiq Secondary School Holds Qur’an Munaqasyah Again: Nurturing a Qur’anic Generation Excelling in Academics and Faith

Al Siddiq Secondary School has once again held its Qur’an Munaqasyah as part of its monthly programme, supporting one of the school’s main missions: to develop students’ abilities in reading, memorising, and understanding the Qur’an. This programme reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing a generation that excels not only academically but also possesses a strong foundation of faith and Qur’anic character. Through consistent engagement with the Qur’an, the school hopes to produce students who uphold Qur’anic values as guidance in their daily lives. The Qur’an Munaqasyah is a memorisation certification examination specifically for students who have completed memorising at least one juz in full. This activity assesses not only the fluency of memorisation but also the quality of recitation in terms of tajwid, tahsin, and proper etiquette in reading and memorising the Qur’an. This programme is expected to inspire students to compete in memorising the Qur’an and to continuously improve the quality of their memorisation. With clear targets and structured evaluation, students become more motivated to complete their memorisation effectively. Passing the munaqasyah is a key requirement for students to receive a juz certificate from the school, as a form of appreciation for their achievement, discipline, and success in completing their Qur’anic memorisation. In this month’s implementation, a total of 18 students participated in the munaqasyah examination, consisting of: 5 students taking the Juz 27 memorisation test10 students taking the Juz 30 memorisation test3 students taking the Juz 29 memorisation test All participants were directly assessed by a panel of examiners comprising qualified Qur’an teachers from Al Siddiq Junior High School, who are experienced in tahfizh and tahsin. This monthly munaqasyah activity serves as clear evidence of Al Siddiq Junior High School’s dedication to fostering a Qur’anic culture within the school environment. It is hoped that through this programme, more students will be encouraged to increase their memorisation, maintain the quality of their recitation, and practise the teachings of the Qur’an in their daily lives. With a strong commitment to developing a Qur’anic generation, Al Siddiq Secondary School continues to strive to provide a balanced education that integrates intellectual, spiritual, and character development. Do We Need an Umbrella to Learn Addition?

A mathematics lesson for TK B (Kindergarten B) at Al Siddiq International was conducted on Tuesday, 28th April 2026 in the classroom. The activity was attended by all TK B pupils in an active and enjoyable atmosphere. From the very beginning, the teacher had prepared learning aids to help the children understand the material in a more concrete and accessible way. The main objective of this lesson was to introduce the concepts of sequential counting and simple arithmetic addition. This material serves as an important foundation for children as preparation before entering primary school. With an age-appropriate approach, the children were expected not only to memorise numbers but also to understand their meaning. The activity began with a group game involving direct interaction. The teacher invited the children to stick pictures of raindrops onto an umbrella that had been prepared. Each child was asked to attach a number of raindrops according to the teacher’s instructions, allowing them to learn counting step by step while playing. Through this activity, the children appeared enthusiastic and found it easier to understand the concept of sequential counting. They also learned to cooperate with their group members, take turns, and follow instructions properly. The teacher provided guidance gradually so that each child could participate without feeling rushed. After the game, the activity continued with completing worksheets on single-digit addition. This exercise helped the children strengthen their understanding of simple addition. By combining play-based learning with written practice, the lesson became more balanced and effective in supporting the development of the children’s numeracy skills.By Inka Amalia, S. Pd

Boundless Creativity – Al Siddiq Junior High School Students Bring the Perkajum Night to Life with Meaningful Performances

The atmosphere of the Perkajum Night at Al Siddiq International Junior High School was transformed into a vibrant stage of expression filled with colour and meaning. Under the theme “Boundless Creativity”, the students presented a variety of performances that were not only entertaining, but also rich in moral, social, and humanitarian messages. During this activity, the students were divided into several groups. Each group showcased their finest work, ranging from musical drama, a dramatisation of the struggle of Palestine, poetry recitations, to thematic performances on women’s emancipation, anti-bullying, and humanitarian values. One of the most remarkable performances was a musical drama portraying the journey of a young girl striving to achieve her dreams. Brilliantly played by Florin as the main character, the story illustrated conflict within a family that still upheld patriarchal views—that women did not need to pursue higher education and should remain within the domestic sphere. However, with the support of her mother and strong determination, the main character succeeded in proving that women are capable of achieving their dreams and surpassing the limits long imposed upon them. This journey eventually changed the father’s perspective, delivering a powerful message about the importance of equality and family support. The performance concluded with the song Meraih Bintang (Reaching for the Stars), which further enlivened the stage, making it grand, emotional, and inspiring. Equally moving was the dramatisation about Palestine, which portrayed resilience and perseverance while also highlighting the important role of women within that struggle. The strong humanitarian message deeply touched the audience and broadened the students’ understanding of global realities. The poetry performance by Year 8 student, Khumaira Nairi Altafunnisa, also became a highlight of the evening. With deep emotion and strong expression, she delivered a message of women’s emancipation with sincerity and profound meaning. Meanwhile, the male students’ group also presented performances addressing themes of emancipation, bullying, and oppression. They emphasised that in Islamic teachings, women hold a highly honourable position and must be respected. This message was delivered in a communicative and touching manner, reflecting the students’ maturity of thought and social awareness. More than simply an arts performance, this activity also served as a means of character building through scouting values. Through group-based activities (barung/regu), students were trained to demonstrate discipline, responsibility in completing tasks, teamwork, honesty, and care for others. The role of scouting as an instrument of character development was clearly evident throughout the series of activities. This Perkajum Night was not only a platform for showcasing talents, but also a space for nurturing courage, creativity, and life values. Al Siddiq Junior High School once again proved that education is not solely about academics, but also about shaping a generation that is principled, critical-minded, and noble-hearted.
