Students of Al-Siddiq International Junior High School carried out a Project-Based Learning (PJBL) activity themed “The Benefits of Solar Energy for Electricity Generation.” The program began on November 17, 2025, with an introductory session delivered by the Science teacher, Mr. Muhammad Fathul Ihsan, M.Res. During the project, students were divided into five boys’ groups and five girls’ groups, each assigned to design and build miniature structures demonstrating the usefulness of solar power in daily life.
From Monday to Thursday, students collaborated actively to create various miniature models. Each model featured solar-powered circuits capable of producing motion (using propellers), light, or sound. Their creative works included miniatures of an airport, lighthouse, café, football stadium, housing complex, and even imaginative models such as the homes of Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward from the Spongebob Squarepants series. These creations reflect students’ understanding of how solar energy can be applied in diverse technological settings.
The highlight of the event was held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 08.00 AM WIB on the Al-Siddiq school field. The ceremony opened with a melodious recitation of Surah An-Nur verse 35 by Cut Hamidatul Aqila, an 8th-grade student whose family originates from Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. The event continued with remarks from the School Director, Mr. Ginanjar Citra Cimarga, M.Pd., who praised the students’ hard work and creativity.
During the main session, each group presented their miniature projects and explained how they integrated the work with various school subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English, Arts, and Civic Education. The atmosphere became even livelier when kindergarten and elementary school students joined in to explore the exhibition and admire the works of their older peers.
In the middle of the event, Mr. Umair Shoddiq, S.I.Kom., the Civic Education teacher, emphasized the importance of understanding citizens’ rights regarding electricity services as stipulated in Law Number 30 of 2009 on Electricity, especially Articles 28 and 29. These articles guarantee citizens’ rights to reliable, continuous, and well-managed electricity services.
This PJBL activity not only deepened students’ knowledge of renewable energy but also enhanced their creativity, teamwork, and awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly technological innovation for the future.
