A Little Adventure in the Universe!

The Kindergarten B pupils of Al Siddiq International took part in a four-day Project-Based Learning (PJBL) activity themed Solar System, held from Monday to Thursday, 20–23 October 2025. The activity took place in each classroom under the guidance of their homeroom teachers. Through this project, the children were encouraged to learn about the solar system in a creative and enjoyable way, while also developing their motor skills, teamwork, and confidence in presenting their work. The main goal of this activity was to introduce the basic concept of the solar system to young learners, while also nurturing their creativity and understanding through hands-on experiences. The children not only learnt the names and order of the planets, but also explored their relative sizes, colours, and orbital positions within the solar system. The project was designed to spark curiosity and inspire a sense of exploration in science and the universe. On Monday, the children began by creating planet shapes from crumpled recycled paper, moulding them according to each planet’s size. For example, Jupiter was made the largest, while Mercury was the smallest. This activity aimed to help them understand planetary size differences in a concrete way, rather than only through pictures. On Tuesday, the children painted their planets using acrylic paints. The colours were chosen based on examples provided by the teachers — red for Mars, bluish-green for Earth, and golden yellow for Saturn. The children were very enthusiastic in choosing colours and paying attention to details to make their planets look as realistic as possible. Wednesday’s session focused on making the sun and the planetary orbits. The children painted a bright, cheerful sun, then drew circular orbits where the planets would later be placed. Thursday marked the highlight of the project, when the children attached their planets to the orbits using glue guns, assisted by the teachers. Afterwards, each child had the opportunity to briefly present their artwork in front of their classmates. The PJBL Solar System activity became a fun and meaningful learning experience for the children. They gained valuable lessons not only about the solar system but also about cooperation, creativity, and confidence in expressing themselves. Through project-based learning like this, the pupils’ enthusiasm for learning grows naturally, filled with curiosity and joy for discovery.By Inka Amalia, S.Pd

SD Al Siddiq International Holds Tasmi’ and Munaqosyah Al-Qur’an

SD Al Siddiq International held the Tasmi’ and Munaqosyah Al-Qur’an activities as part of its tahfidz (Qur’an memorisation) development programme, which is one of the school’s flagship initiatives. During the Tasmi’ and Munaqosyah sessions, students had the opportunity to present their memorisation in front of tahfidz teachers, classmates, and parents who attended to offer their support. A solemn and emotional atmosphere filled the room as the students confidently and passionately recited verses from the Holy Qur’an. Through this activity, the school aims to instil the values of consistency, discipline, and love for the Qur’an from an early age. The focus is not only on memorisation skills but also on understanding and practising the teachings of the Qur’an in daily life. With the patient and dedicated guidance of the tahfidz teachers, SD Al Siddiq International remains committed to nurturing a Qur’anic generation with noble character, intelligence, and strong Islamic values. Following this, the assessors listened to the school’s performance presentation and conducted discussion and confirmation sessions to explore the implementation of various programmes in greater depth. The agenda continued with teacher interviews to assess their understanding of learning implementation, interviews with parents to gather their perspectives on educational services, and classroom observations to review the learning process. The assessors also conducted a school environment inspection to ensure that facilities and infrastructure met accreditation standards. On the second day, the visitation focused on an in-depth interview with the Head of School, discussing leadership, school management strategies, learning innovations, and future development plans. The assessors also interviewed students to hear first-hand about their learning experiences. To conclude the process, the assessors presented their preliminary findings to the school. Al Siddiq International Primary School approached this process with a spirit of collaboration, involving all stakeholders—teachers, staff, students, and parents alike. Through the smooth and well-organised two-day visitation, the school hopes to achieve an optimal accreditation result while continuing to advance its mission of delivering high-quality, Islamic, and globally competitive education.By Yundara Ulfa Priatna, M.Pd.

The competition is open to both primary (SD) and secondary (SMP) students and includes various contests such as Futsal, Badminton, MHQ, Calligraphy, Squarth, Speech, Poetry, Storytelling, Poster Design, and Photography. ESPECTO carries the slogan “Rise your passion, show your best action to be champion,” encouraging students to awaken their spirit and give their best performance to become champions. Alhamdulillah, Al Siddiq International Secondary School has demonstrated its best action and brought home a trophy in this year’s event. Three students from SD Al Siddiq International — Omar Sani Nasri, Khanino Amal Prasojo, and Ibrahim — successfully advanced to the semi-final round of the Squarth (Quiz) competition for Years 4 and 5. Although they did not reach the final stage, their achievement of reaching the semi-finals was already a great accomplishment and a proud moment for the school. One of the Squarth coaches, Ustadz Abdullah Syafii, Lc., who also teaches Islamic Education at the school, shared his thoughts: “The event was very engaging, encouraging students’ interest in the subjects tested, such as Mathematics, Social Studies, and Islamic Studies. After the competition, they became even more enthusiastic about learning. Personally, I hope we can participate in more events like this in the future and achieve even better results.” In the Storytelling competition, SD Al Siddiq International was represented by two students from Years 4 and 5 — Queensha Nahda Permana and Fathimah Tsabitah. Both students performed excellently, with Queensha Nahda Permana proudly earning 2nd place. The Storytelling coach, Ms. Elsa Violita, S.S., M.S., an English teacher at SD Al Siddiq International, expressed her pride in their achievement: “I feel truly happy and proud of what they’ve accomplished. From the beginning, they were very enthusiastic when chosen to represent the school. Despite their busy schedules, they still managed to make time for practice. Their success is the result of their hard work and courage to take part in the competition. I’m especially proud of Queensha, who was initially doubtful during practice but gave her best performance during the preliminary round and went on to win 2nd place. I hope this achievement motivates them to keep improving and growing.” May this remarkable achievement serve as an inspiration for other students at Al Siddiq International Secondary School to continue striving for excellence and developing their potential. Al Siddiq International Primary School Student Advances to Spelling Bee Final

A Year 5 student from Al Siddiq International Primary School successfully advanced to the final round of the Spelling Bee Competition (Group C Category: Years 5–6 Primary School) organised by English First (EF) Kalimalang, outperforming 47 other participants. The competition took place on Saturday, 25 October 2024, at the EF Kalimalang centre. The Spelling Bee competition was held to showcase children’s ability to spell words in English correctly. Organised by English First, this event is recognised as one of the largest spelling competitions in Indonesia. The main goal of the competition is to improve children’s English proficiency and self-confidence. Participants are given English words and must spell them letter by letter accurately. The level of difficulty varies depending on the group and stage. The EF Spelling Bee consists of three rounds — the Preliminary, Semi-final, and Final — and is open to students from both public and private primary and secondary schools in the surrounding areas. The Al Siddiq International Primary School student who reached the final stage of the Spelling Bee is Percy William. Although he did not take the top spot, Percy successfully demonstrated his skills and placed among the Top 5 finalists, defeating 47 other contestants in Group C (Years 5–6). This is a remarkable achievement for Al Siddiq International Primary School, especially considering that the school has been established for less than two years. The Spelling Bee coach, Ms. Elsa Violita, S.S., M.S., who is also the English teacher at Al Siddiq International, expressed her pride in Percy’s performance. She shared, “I’m so proud of Percy. Even though he has a foreign background and speaks English in daily life, he still showed great enthusiasm and discipline during practice. He remained humble and didn’t underestimate his competitors. Since it was his first time joining a Spelling Bee, he felt a bit nervous and wasn’t yet familiar with the difficulty level of the words. Although he didn’t win first place, reaching the final round and making it into the Top 5 is already a wonderful accomplishment for him and the school. I hope this will be a great start for Percy to continue improving his skills.” May this outstanding achievement serve as an inspiration for other students of Al Siddiq International Primary School to keep striving for excellence and developing their potential. Hopefully, in future competitions, Al Siddiq students will achieve even greater success, marking the beginning of many more remarkable accomplishments in the years ahead.
