SMP Al-Siddiq International School Completes Mid-Semester (Odd Term) Summative Assessment

On Monday, 9 September 2024, SMP Al-Siddiq International School commenced the Mid-Semester Summative Assessment (STS) for the Odd Term, which continued until 13 September 2024. The STS serves as an essential part of the students’ learning evaluation for the first half of the semester. This evaluation is held every term to measure students’ understanding of the material covered and to provide both teachers and parents with insights into the students’ academic progress. The STS at SMP Al-Siddiq International School was conducted in the form of written examinations, covering material taught throughout the first half of the semester. The subjects tested included Mathematics, Bahasa Indonesia, English, Arabic, ICT, Islamic Studies, Physical Education, Civics (PPKn), Social Studies (IPS), and Science (IPA). The results of the STS will serve as one of the key considerations in determining students’ academic progression and eligibility for promotion or graduation at the end of the semester. The school upholds the motto, “Exams are for learning, not learning for exams.” Therefore, it is vital for students to prepare well before sitting for their tests. Teachers at SMP Al-Siddiq International School also provide guidance and support to help students better understand the material and approach the exams with confidence. The successful implementation of the STS reflects the school’s strong commitment to maintaining high educational standards. SMP Al-Siddiq International School continues to strive for excellence by adopting innovative, technology-based learning methods and by promoting a balanced approach that integrates academic achievement with character development. With this success, the school hopes to sustain and further enhance student performance in future assessments, including the major examinations held at the end of each term. School Orientation Week for New Students

Bekasi – July 2024 The 15th of July marked the beginning of the School Orientation Week (MPLS) for the 2024/2025 academic year. Alhamdulillah, this year Al Siddiq International School proudly welcomed more than 120 new students, spanning the Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary levels. The MPLS programme was livelier than ever, featuring a variety of engaging activities conducted over five days (and two weeks for Kindergarten pupils). The first day began with a welcoming ceremony, during which Ustadz Abdullah Haris, as the assembly leader, encouraged pupils to study diligently and make the most of their learning journey at Al Siddiq. The day continued with class assignments, introductions to form teachers and classmates, making the first day both joyful and memorable. The following day, pupils participated in health and fire safety sessions conducted by the local community health centre (Puskesmas) and fire department officers. They learned how to respond to emergency fire situations, and excitement filled the air during the firefighting simulation, when teachers and security staff activated the water hose and the children gleefully played with the spray. Throughout the MPLS week, students took part in a school tour, exploring various rooms, facilities, and meeting the school’s staff and employees. For the literacy and language programme, Al Siddiq invited a storyteller, who captivated students with tales brought to life through puppets — an activity that filled the hall with laughter and enthusiasm. Leadership training was also provided for Secondary pupils through marching and discipline drills, while Kindergarten pupils enjoyed paper crafts, big-book storytelling, and fun sports activities on the Al Siddiq field. Welcome to Al Siddiq International School — may your educational journey here be full of joy, growth, and inspiration! [Ed.]By ESTY INDRASWARIANI, S.Sos

Breaking the Fast and Night Activities During Ramadhan

Bekasi – March 2024 The activities held during Ramadhan 1445H at Al Siddiq International School included Ifthor Jama’i (communal breaking of the fast) and Malam Bina Iman dan Takwa (Mabit – Night of Faith and Devotion). These events took place on 27 and 28 March 2024, involving all pupils from Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary levels. The communal iftar on Wednesday, 27 March, began with an opening session where pupils gathered in Masjid Al Siddiq to listen to a short Islamic sermon (tausiyah). Pupils were then divided into small groups for mentoring sessions, Qur’an recitation, storytelling on Islamic history, and collective supplications (doa and dzikir) before sunset. During the iftar preparations, parents also took part through the school committees of each level, adding to the joyful atmosphere of the event. On this occasion, the committee organised a charity programme for orphans, who were also invited to join the communal iftar. After breaking the fast, everyone performed Maghrib prayers in congregation, followed by dinner and Tarawih prayers. Pupils who joined the Mabit stayed overnight in several classrooms together with their teachers. The Mabit programme included various religious activities such as Tahajjud prayers, Qur’an recitation, and enjoyable late-night sessions, especially designed for Kindergarten pupils. As this Mabit was the first-ever overnight Ramadhan event held by Al Siddiq International School, it left many meaningful impressions. Pupils expressed their joy at being able to spend the night at school independently (without their parents) while experiencing the serenity of night worship and strengthening their faith before the upcoming school break. This Mabit activity also served as the culmination of all Ramadhan programmes at Al Siddiq International School. [Ed.]By ESTY INDRASWARIANI, S.Sos

Ramadhan Social Service Activity

Bekasi – March 2024, Al Siddiq International School, a well-known educational institution recognised for its dedication and commitment to providing quality education, once again demonstrated its spirit of social care through meaningful community service. With the spirit of giving and togetherness, the school organised a series of social service activities for residents around the school. On Friday, 22 March 2024, pupils, teachers, and staff of Al Siddiq International School enthusiastically gathered to carry out their latest social project. The activity aimed to provide essential food packages (sembako) to those in need while fostering a sense of empathy and compassion among the pupils. A total of 244 food packages were collected through contributions from the school committee and parents across the Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary levels. The Director of Education, Ustadz Abdullah Haris, expressed that social values and compassion are integral parts of the school’s educational vision. “Our goal is not only to develop academically intelligent pupils but also individuals who are caring and sensitive to the needs of the surrounding community,” he stated. During the event, pupils worked hand in hand with teachers, school staff, and the school committee to collect, sort, and pack the food packages, which were then distributed to underprivileged families living near the school. With great enthusiasm, the pupils personally handed the aid packages to local residents, learning first-hand the importance of giving and sharing while nurturing valuable values of empathy and social awareness. The activity also served as an opportunity for teachers to directly guide pupils in practising these social values. They did not only act as educators in the classroom but also as role models actively engaging in community service. “This activity is held to enliven the spirit of the holy month of Ramadhan. Seeing the pupils’ enthusiasm and involvement in this social project is truly heart-warming. They are learning that being part of a community also means having a responsibility to help one another,” said Mr. Triyoga, Head of the Secondary School Committee of Al Siddiq International. This social service project was not the first organised by Al Siddiq International School. The school has previously held regular ‘Friday Blessings’ programmes, where food is shared with both school members and the surrounding community. Through these initiatives, Al Siddiq International School has succeeded in creating an environment that nurtures not only academic growth but also social development. The spirit of compassion and solidarity cultivated within the school serves as a strong foundation for shaping empathetic and responsible future generations. Through its social service initiatives, Al Siddiq International School has truly shown that education is not only about gaining knowledge, but also about nurturing individuals who make a positive contribution to society.
