These certificates may later be used to support applications for further education or as one of the requirements for national scholarship programmes. With this official recognition, the students have become even more motivated to continue improving the quality of their memorisation and Qur’anic abilities. During the assessment process, participants were evaluated based on several key criteria, namely fluency of memorisation, tahsin, tahfizh, and proper etiquette in reciting and presenting Qur’anic memorisation. The assessment was conducted professionally and objectively, ensuring that the results accurately reflected each participant’s abilities. The students appeared highly enthusiastic and worked hard to deliver their best performance throughout the certification process. The activity was supervised by Ustadz Khalid, Lc. as the male students’ mentor teacher, and Ustazah Diah, S.Pd. as the female students’ mentor teacher. The teachers also continued to offer guidance and motivation so that the students remained calm and confident during the assessment process. Equally important, the group of participants was led directly by the Principal of SMP Al Siddiq International School, Amaldzikrullah, M.Pd.. The presence of the Principal demonstrated the school’s genuine attention and full support towards the development of students’ Qur’anic competencies. This further motivated the students by showing that the school not only focuses on academic excellence, but is also deeply committed to nurturing a Qur’anic generation that is accomplished, well-rounded in character, and prepared to compete in the future.By Retno Suzanne Handayani, Lc, M.Pd

Science Practicals: Encouraging Students’ Analytical Thinking and Innovation through Cambridge Learning

As part of the implementation of the Cambridge Assessment International Education curriculum, SMP Al Siddiq International School continues to provide learning experiences that encourage students to become active, creative, and innovative in facing future global challenges. The Cambridge curriculum is widely recognised for emphasising the development of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Through this approach, students are not only taught to understand theories, but are also trained to think critically, discover solutions, and apply learning concepts in real-life situations. One clear implementation of this approach could be seen in the science practical activity conducted by Year 7 students in the Science Laboratory of SMP Al Siddiq International School. The activity was directly guided by the school’s science teacher, Muhammad Fathul Ihsan, M.Res, who is also a doctoral candidate at a university in Tokyo, Japan. During the practical session, students carried out experiments on electric currents using batteries and simple electrical circuits. The learning process was conducted through group work, allowing students to discuss, exchange ideas, and collaborate in completing the assigned projects. Through this practical activity, students were encouraged to understand how scientific concepts are directly applied in learning. They not only memorised theories, but also learned to conduct observations, analyse results, and solve problems through scientific experimentation. This science practical programme represents one form of learning that aligns closely with the vision of the Cambridge curriculum, namely to nurture students who possess critical thinking skills, creativity, and the ability to innovate. In addition, project-based learning also helps to develop students’ self-confidence, communication abilities, and collaboration skills. Through direct science practical activities in the laboratory, SMP Al Siddiq International School hopes to inspire a new generation with strong interests in research and technology, while also opening opportunities for future scientists and researchers who are ready to compete on a global level.By Retno Suzanne Handa, Lc, M.Pd

Learning about the Water Cycle through an Experiment

The rain experiment activity was carried out by the Kindergarten B students of Al Siddiq International on Monday, 4 May 2026, in the science classroom. This activity was one of the simple science lessons designed to introduce children to the process of how rain occurs in an engaging, enjoyable, and easy-to-understand way. Through this experiment, the children were able to learn directly by observing the changes that took place during the activity. Before the activity began, the teacher first prepared the tools and materials to be used, namely two plastic cups, cotton wool, drawing pins, hot water, ice cubes, and blue-coloured water. The teacher then explained the function of each item to the students using simple language so that the children could better understand the purpose of the experiment. The children appeared enthusiastic and curious to follow every stage of the activity. During the experiment, the teacher asked the children to help make small holes in the plastic cups using drawing pins under close supervision to ensure safety. Afterwards, cotton wool was placed inside the bottom of the plastic cup to represent clouds. Ice cubes were then placed on top of the cotton wool, while another cup was filled with hot water to symbolise seawater evaporating due to the heat of the sun. The teacher then dripped blue-coloured water onto the ice cubes until water droplets slowly appeared, resembling rainfall. Through this experiment, the children learned that rain occurs through the processes of water evaporation, cooling, and the formation of water droplets that eventually fall to the earth. By directly observing this simple process, the students found it easier to understand the concept of rainfall compared to learning through theory alone. The activity also helped develop the children’s ability to observe, ask questions, and understand cause-and-effect relationships in natural processes. The aim of this rain experiment was to introduce simple scientific concepts to children from an early age, particularly the process of how rain is formed. In addition, the activity sought to increase curiosity, encourage simple thinking skills, and build children’s confidence in trying new things. The children were also encouraged to take a more active role during the learning process. The benefits of this activity were highly valuable for children’s development, both in terms of knowledge and skills. The children learned through direct experience, making the learning process more enjoyable and memorable. Furthermore, the experiment also helped develop fine motor skills, concentration, teamwork, and the ability to follow the teacher’s instructions. Through activities such as this, it is hoped that children will become increasingly interested in learning science and gaining a better understanding of the world around them.By Inka Amalia, S.Pd
