The classroom refurbishment at Al Siddiq International Kindergarten took place on Thursday and Friday, 25–26 June 2026. The activity was carried out by the kindergarten teachers within their respective classrooms as part of the school’s preparations for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. This initiative represents an important step in creating a learning environment that is tidier, more comfortable, safer, and better suited to the developmental needs of young children.
The classroom refurbishment was undertaken in response to the existing classroom layout, where the kindergarten learning spaces feature open roller doors and are separated only by storage lockers. Consequently, a thoughtful reorganisation was required to establish clearer boundaries between classrooms while maintaining an open, orderly, and welcoming environment. With careful planning, each classroom could provide a more conducive setting for learning, playing, and social interaction.
The primary objective of this refurbishment was to create a well-organised learning environment that actively supports children’s development. A tidy and structured classroom helps children to concentrate more effectively, understand the different learning areas, and feel secure while participating in school activities. Furthermore, the improved classroom arrangement enables teachers to organise learning activities more efficiently, manage teaching resources effectively, and supervise pupils more comfortably throughout the school day.
The benefits of the classroom refurbishment extend to both pupils and teachers. For the children, a well-organised classroom promotes comfort, enthusiasm for learning, and the development of positive habits such as keeping their environment tidy from an early age. For teachers, an organised classroom supports smoother lesson delivery, as learning materials and equipment are stored systematically and can be accessed easily whenever required. The repositioning of the storage lockers as classroom dividers also helps define each learning area while preserving the flexibility and openness of the available space.
The refurbishment process began with a comprehensive decluttering session. Teachers carefully sorted through classroom resources, including teaching materials, educational media, toys, stationery, and other classroom equipment. Items that remained in good condition and were still suitable for use were neatly reorganised and stored, while damaged, unused, or unnecessary materials were removed to maximise the available classroom space.
Once the sorting process had been completed, the teachers reorganised the classroom layout by repositioning the storage lockers and other furnishings. The lockers were arranged to function not only as storage units but also as practical dividers between classrooms. This arrangement was carefully planned with consideration for the children’s comfort, ease of movement, accessibility, and safety throughout daily learning activities. As a result, the classrooms retained their open atmosphere while providing clearer boundaries between each learning space.
The final stage involved arranging all selected materials according to their purpose and function. Teaching resources, stationery, books, educational toys, and other classroom equipment were carefully placed in appropriate locations. Every area of the classroom was organised to create a clean, attractive, and practical learning environment for everyday use. This orderly arrangement also encourages children to develop simple organisational habits, such as returning items to their proper place after use.
Through this classroom refurbishment initiative, the teachers of Al Siddiq International Kindergarten have demonstrated their commitment to providing the very best learning environment for every child. A classroom is not merely a place for academic learning; it is also a space where children grow, play, explore, develop independence, and build confidence. With the collaborative efforts of the teaching team, it is hoped that the refreshed classrooms will provide an even more comfortable, organised, and enjoyable environment in which every child can thrive throughout the new academic year.
