Both categories require strong expression, interpretation, and refined technique, making them both a challenge and a valuable experience for the participants. Throughout the event, the students were directly accompanied by subject teachers who provided guidance, motivation, and full support. This mentorship played an important role in building the students’ confidence when performing in front of the panel of judges. They performed with confidence, showcasing their best abilities, which had been developed through intensive training with their mentors. The Head of Al Siddiq Junior High School stated that participation in the FLS3N is not solely about winning, but also about developing skills and broadening students’ experiences. “For us, every child has extraordinary potential. Al Siddiq Secondary School has once again held its Qur’an Munaqasyah as part of its monthly programme, supporting one of the school’s main missions: to develop students’ abilities in reading, memorising, and understanding the Qur’an. This programme reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing a generation that excels not only academically but also possesses a strong foundation of faith and Qur’anic character. Through consistent engagement with the Qur’an, the school hopes to produce students who uphold Qur’anic values as guidance in their daily lives. The Qur’an Munaqasyah is a memorisation certification examination specifically for students who have completed memorising at least one juz in full. This programme is expected to inspire students to compete in memorising the Qur’an and to continuously improve the quality of their memorisation. With clear targets and structured evaluation, students become more motivated to complete their memorisation effectively. Passing the munaqasyah is a key requirement for students to receive a juz certificate from the school, as a form of appreciation for their achievement, discipline, and success in completing their Qur’anic memorisation. In this month’s implementation, a total of 18 students participated in the munaqasyah examination, consisting of: 5 students taking the Juz 27 memorisation test10 students taking the Juz 30 memorisation test3 students taking the Juz 29 memorisation test All participants were directly assessed by a panel of examiners comprising qualified Qur’an teachers from Al Siddiq Junior High School, who are experienced in tahfizh and tahsin. This monthly munaqasyah activity serves as clear evidence of Al Siddiq Junior High School’s dedication to fostering a Qur’anic culture within the school environment. It is hoped that through this programme, more students will be encouraged to increase their memorisation, maintain the quality of their recitation, and practise the teachings of the Qur’an in their daily lives. Boundless Creativity – Al Siddiq Junior High School Students Bring the Perkajum Night to Life with Meaningful Performances

The atmosphere of the Perkajum Night at Al Siddiq International Junior High School was transformed into a vibrant stage of expression filled with colour and meaning. Under the theme “Boundless Creativity”, the students presented a variety of performances that were not only entertaining, but also rich in moral, social, and humanitarian messages. During this activity, the students were divided into several groups. Each group showcased their finest work, ranging from musical drama, a dramatisation of the struggle of Palestine, poetry recitations, to thematic performances on women’s emancipation, anti-bullying, and humanitarian values. One of the most remarkable performances was a musical drama portraying the journey of a young girl striving to achieve her dreams. Brilliantly played by Florin as the main character, the story illustrated conflict within a family that still upheld patriarchal views—that women did not need to pursue higher education and should remain within the domestic sphere. However, with the support of her mother and strong determination, the main character succeeded in proving that women are capable of achieving their dreams and surpassing the limits long imposed upon them. This journey eventually changed the father’s perspective, delivering a powerful message about the importance of equality and family support. The performance concluded with the song Meraih Bintang (Reaching for the Stars), which further enlivened the stage, making it grand, emotional, and inspiring. Equally moving was the dramatisation about Palestine, which portrayed resilience and perseverance while also highlighting the important role of women within that struggle. The strong humanitarian message deeply touched the audience and broadened the students’ understanding of global realities. The poetry performance by Year 8 student, Khumaira Nairi Altafunnisa, also became a highlight of the evening. With deep emotion and strong expression, she delivered a message of women’s emancipation with sincerity and profound meaning. Meanwhile, the male students’ group also presented performances addressing themes of emancipation, bullying, and oppression. They emphasised that in Islamic teachings, women hold a highly honourable position and must be respected. This message was delivered in a communicative and touching manner, reflecting the students’ maturity of thought and social awareness. More than simply an arts performance, this activity also served as a means of character building through scouting values. Through group-based activities (barung/regu), students were trained to demonstrate discipline, responsibility in completing tasks, teamwork, honesty, and care for others. The role of scouting as an instrument of character development was clearly evident throughout the series of activities. This Perkajum Night was not only a platform for showcasing talents, but also a space for nurturing courage, creativity, and life values. Al Siddiq Junior High School once again proved that education is not solely about academics, but also about shaping a generation that is principled, critical-minded, and noble-hearted. The entire evening programme was guided directly by the Garuda Scouts from Year 9 students of SMP Al Siddiq, demonstrating their active role as role models for their younger schoolmates. In addition to nurturing spirituality, the programme also sharpened the students’ creativity and critical thinking skills. One of the most eagerly awaited activities was the inter-patrol cooking competition. Each group presented different menus with great creativity, displaying their potential and skills like young chefs. This activity was not only enjoyable but also developed teamwork, time management, and innovation. The Perkaju programme was officially closed by the Scout Leader together with the Headteacher of SMP Al Siddiq, Amal Dzikrullah, M.Pd. The event took place in a warm and meaningful atmosphere, bringing together parents and teachers in person after previous communication had largely been conducted online. This moment was not merely an occasion to present students’ learning outcomes, but also served as a constructive platform for dialogue in building a shared understanding of students’ academic progress and character development. Through face-to-face meetings, parents and teachers were able to exchange information and formulate strategic steps to support children’s educational journeys more effectively. On this occasion, the Principal, Mr Amal Dzikrullah, M.Pd., emphasised the importance of discipline as a fundamental foundation in shaping students’ character. From the outset, participants appeared focused and committed as they worked through each question, making careful and measured use of their time. This try-out was not merely a practice session, but also a means of reflection for students to assess their level of readiness. The series of events began on Friday, 27 March 2026, with a Halal Bihalal gathering for teachers held at the school mosque on the first floor. The event proceeded solemnly with a religious talk delivered by Ustaz Abdullah Harist, Lc, M.Pd, who emphasised the importance of sincerity in service, strengthening ukhuwah (brotherhood), and making Eid al-Fitr a starting point for self-improvement. The variety of dishes brought from home symbolised the spirit of sharing, while also bringing joy and strengthening bonds of friendship. More than simply sharing food, the essence of this activity lay in the moment of mutual forgiveness. Students greeted one another, dissolving any barriers that may have formed. With deep respect, they also visited their teachers, seeking forgiveness and prayers as provisions for continuing their learning journey with a purified heart. Held two weeks after Eid al-Fitr, the event carried deeper meaning. The holiday period had served as a time to “recharge” faith and spirit.
