Parent Gathering : Educating Children Following the Example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW

Bekasi, 30 July 2026 — Al Siddiq International School once again organised a study session for parents as part of the school’s commitment to strengthening the partnership between education at school and education at home. The session was held on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at Al Siddiq Mosque and was attended by parents with great enthusiasm.

The session explored the theme “Educating Children Following the Example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW”, based on the work of Shaykh Jamal Abdur Rahman. The topic was delivered by Ustadz Abdullah Haris, Lc., M.Pd., who encouraged parents to understand that educating children is a long-term process requiring knowledge, patience, good example, and an approach that is appropriate to each stage of a child’s development.

During the session, Ustadz Abdullah Haris explained that children cannot be educated using exactly the same approach at every age. Each stage of development has its own needs, characteristics, and educational approaches. Therefore, parents need to understand the different stages of their children’s development so that they can provide appropriate guidance in matters of faith, worship, character, and everyday life.

One of the key messages highlighted during the session was that parents’ example is a fundamental part of educating children. Children learn not only through advice and instructions, but also through what they see and experience in their parents’ behaviour. The way parents worship, communicate, resolve problems, respect others, and fulfil their responsibilities can become an example that children naturally observe and imitate.

The session also reminded parents that educating children is a responsibility and a trust that requires sincere commitment. Parents are not only responsible for fulfilling their children’s physical and academic needs, but also play an important role in shaping their character, manners, and values, which will serve as a foundation for their future.

Through a discussion of the stages of child education based on the example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, parents were encouraged to develop closer communication with their children, understand their needs according to their age, and provide guidance with compassion and wisdom.

The study session also provided an opportunity for parents to reflect on the educational approaches they have applied at home. Strong collaboration between parents and the school is essential so that the values instilled in children can be implemented consistently and mutually reinforced.

For Al Siddiq International School, the parent study session was not merely a religious programme, but also part of the school’s efforts to build a strong parenting partnership between the school and families. Good education requires the involvement of various parties, particularly when the school and parents share the same vision for supporting children’s growth and development.

Through this session, it is hoped that parents gained additional knowledge and insight to strengthen their role as their children’s primary educators at home. More importantly, may the knowledge gained be put into practice in everyday life, creating a family environment that nurtures children who are faithful, well-mannered, independent, and strong in character.

With the spirit of “Growing Together, Educating with Faith, Inspiring the Future,” Al Siddiq International School continues to strengthen collaboration between the school and families in delivering an education that focuses not only on academic achievement, but also on character development and life values rooted in Islamic teachings.
