In celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, SMP Al-Siddiq International held a series of Independence Day competitions on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, on the school field. The event was a way of expressing gratitude while also fostering a spirit of nationalism, togetherness, and sportsmanship among the students. The atmosphere of independence was strongly felt through a variety of lively and enjoyable activities.
A range of competitions was organised to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day, including a sarong ball relay, paired leg-tie race, obstacle course, and water relay. Each competition was designed to test teamwork, agility, speed, and cooperation among the participants. Cheers and encouragement from their friends added even more excitement to the atmosphere.
As a form of participation and support for Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations, all SMP Al-Siddiq International students took part in the competitions. The participants demonstrated great enthusiasm from the very beginning. Teamwork, speed, and strategy played an important role in completing each stage of the competitions. The overall championship was won by the Year 9 Girls class, who achieved victories across several competition categories.
The competitions were exciting, competitive, and filled with joy. Each participant gave their best while continuing to uphold the values of sportsmanship and togetherness. The enthusiastic cheers from the spectators made the atmosphere even more vibrant, creating memorable moments that were not only enjoyable but also strengthened the bonds of friendship among the students.
Through the 17 August Independence Day competitions, the spirit of independence was expressed not only through celebration but also through the values of unity, teamwork, sportsmanship, courage, and perseverance. May the spirit fostered through this activity continue to be applied in everyday life and become part of the character of Indonesia’s young generation—one that loves its country and strives to contribute positively to the nation’s future.
