Jatimakmur Community Health Centre Conducts Student Fitness Assessments at SMP Al-Siddiq International

Bekasi, 30 September 2026 — SMP Al-Siddiq International once again organised an activity to support students’ health and physical fitness through a fitness assessment in collaboration with Jatimakmur Community Health Centre (Puskesmas Jatimakmur) on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The activity took place on the school field and was attended by students as part of the school’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining good health and fitness from an early age.
The activity provided students with an opportunity to assess their physical fitness through structured physical exercises. In addition to supporting health education, it also gave students practical experience of the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
Assessing Physical Fitness and Endurance
One of the main activities in the fitness assessment was a running test, during which students were asked to complete 11 laps, covering a total distance of approximately 1,000 metres on the school field.
The test was designed to provide an indication of students’ physical capabilities, particularly their cardiorespiratory endurance—the body’s ability to use oxygen effectively during physical activity.
Throughout the activity, students were also encouraged to pay attention to their bodies’ responses to exercise, including changes in heart rate, breathing, fatigue, and their ability to sustain physical activity.
In this way, students were not simply exercising; they were also learning to recognise how their bodies function when engaged in physical activity.
Objectives of the Fitness Assessment
The fitness assessment had several important objectives:

  1. Assessing students’ fitness levels
The assessment provided an overview of students’ physical fitness, particularly their endurance when undertaking physical activities.
  2. Measuring cardiorespiratory endurance
The running activity helped provide an indication of how effectively the respiratory and circulatory systems support physical activity.
  3. Introducing the importance of heart and body health
Through physical exercise, students learnt about changes that occur in the body during exercise, such as increased heart rate and breathing frequency.
  4. Building healthy habits from an early age
Students were encouraged to understand that health is not simply the absence of illness, but also involves maintaining physical fitness through regular exercise, a balanced diet, sufficient rest, and healthy daily habits.
  5. Encouraging students to exercise regularly
The activity aimed to motivate students to make physical activity part of their daily routines, rather than exercising only during school activities.
  6. Raising awareness of the body’s responses
Students learnt to recognise their own physical capabilities and how their bodies respond to exercise, helping them better understand the importance of maintaining fitness.
  7. Supporting the school’s health programme
The collaboration with Jatimakmur Community Health Centre formed part of the school’s efforts to create an educational environment that prioritises not only academic achievement, but also students’ health and physical development.
Learning About the Body Through Physical Activity
The fitness assessment provided students with a different kind of learning experience. They were not simply asked to run; they were also encouraged to understand what happens to their bodies during physical activity.
After running, heart rate and breathing frequency increase because the body requires more oxygen and energy. This direct experience helped students connect their understanding of health and physical education with what they had learnt in the classroom.
The activity also taught students that physical abilities vary from one individual to another. Exercise is therefore not simply about who can run the fastest, but about how each person can maintain good health and gradually improve their physical capabilities.
Through the fitness assessment conducted in collaboration with Jatimakmur Community Health Centre, SMP Al-Siddiq International hopes to strengthen students’ awareness of the importance of maintaining their health, staying physically active, and adopting healthy habits in their everyday lives.
Healthy bodies, active lives, and minds ready to learn and achieve.
