Let’s Get to Know the Letter C!

On Tuesday, 13 October 2026, the children of TK A Al Siddiq International took part in an enjoyable learning activity in the Preparation Centre classroom. This time, they explored the letter C through the theme of land transportation, with a special focus on cars. In addition to learning to recognise the letter, the children had the opportunity to create their own cars using ice cream sticks. This activity was designed to combine language learning, early mathematical concepts, and creativity in a fun and engaging learning experience.

The activity began with circle time, when the children gathered in a circle with their teacher. During this session, the teacher took attendance, asked how everyone was feeling, and encouraged the children to chat together to create a comfortable and welcoming learning atmosphere. The teacher then introduced the topic by inviting the children to recall different types of transport they already knew. Through simple conversations, they were encouraged to observe and name vehicles they often encounter in their daily lives.

Next, the teacher introduced the theme of land transportation, focusing on cars. The children learnt that cars are a means of transport used to travel from one place to another. They were also encouraged to count cars and become familiar with the numerals 0–5. Through this activity, the children practised counting in sequence and matching quantities with the corresponding numerals. This helped strengthen their early understanding of numbers using familiar objects from everyday life.

After exploring cars and number concepts, the children moved on to learning the letter C in the word car. The teacher showed them the shape of the letter C and encouraged them to say its sound. The children also explored the connection between the letter C and the word car, helping them begin to understand that letters are important building blocks of words. This activity was a valuable way to nurture an early interest in literacy.

The fun continued as the children created cars using ice cream sticks. With guidance from their teacher, they followed the steps involved in making their crafts, from preparing the materials to arranging the sticks into the shape of a car. Throughout the process, they learnt to follow instructions, pay attention to the sequence of steps, and use their creativity to produce their own creations. The activity also gave them opportunities to develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and attention to detail as they assembled the materials into a meaningful shape.

Through this activity, the children not only learnt to recognise the letter C and the word car, but also developed their sequential counting skills, became familiar with the numerals 0–5, and practised following simple instructions. Creating cars from ice cream sticks provided a hands-on learning experience, allowing the children to connect what they had learnt with a practical activity. As a result, learning became more engaging and easier to understand in line with their developmental stages.

TK A Al Siddiq International continues to provide learning experiences that combine exploration, creativity, and hands-on activities. Through learning the letter C and making cars from ice cream sticks, the children are encouraged to become more enthusiastic learners, embrace new experiences, and develop essential foundational skills that will support their future learning journey.
