Alhamdulillah, on Friday, 4 September 2026, Al Siddiq International Primary School once again held its Clean Up Friday activity under the theme “Clean Classroom, Ready for STS!”
The activity formed part of the school’s positive daily routines aimed at developing students’ awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and comfort within the school environment. On this occasion, Clean Up Friday also provided an opportunity for students to prepare their classrooms so that they would be clean, comfortable, and ready for the upcoming Sumatif Tengah Semester (STS).
Classroom cleanliness is not simply about making a room look clean. It is also an important part of character education. Through this activity, students were encouraged to understand that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility. Every student has a role to play in creating a healthy, comfortable, orderly, and enjoyable learning environment.
Cleaning and Organising the Classroom
During Clean Up Friday, students worked together with their teachers to clean and organise their classrooms. Tasks were divided among the students, allowing everyone to participate actively.
Some of the activities included:
- Wiping the Desks
Students cleaned their individual desks by wiping and organising them to remove dust, dirt, and unnecessary items. Clean and tidy desks can help students feel more comfortable when learning and completing their STS assessments.
- Organising Books and Classroom Materials
Textbooks and various classroom materials were reorganised neatly. Students learnt to return each item to its proper place, helping to keep the classroom organised and free from clutter.
- Cleaning the Whiteboard
The whiteboard was also given attention. Students cleaned it so that it would remain tidy and ready to be used for learning activities after the STS.
- Sweeping the Floor
Students worked together to sweep the classroom floor, ensuring that there was no dust or rubbish left behind. A clean floor is an important part of creating a healthy and comfortable classroom.
- Taking Out the Rubbish
The rubbish collected during the activity was taken to the designated disposal area. Students were also reminded to make a habit of putting rubbish in the proper bins and not leaving waste inside or around the classroom.
Keeping the Classroom Neat and Ready for STS
Once all the cleaning activities were completed, students checked the classroom once again to make sure that every corner was clean, learning materials were properly organised, desks and chairs were arranged neatly, and the classroom was ready for the STS.
Learning Responsibility Through Cleanliness
Clean Up Friday provided students with a simple yet meaningful learning experience. They were not merely cleaning their classrooms; they were also learning about responsibility and teamwork.
As students worked together to clean the classroom, they learnt that a comfortable environment does not happen by itself. It requires care and contribution from every individual. In this way, cleaning activities can help students become more independent and responsible for the environment around them.
Students also learnt to complete assigned tasks, help their friends, take care of classroom facilities, and appreciate the results of their collective efforts. These small habits are expected to grow into positive character traits that students can apply in their everyday lives.
Preparing a Comfortable Environment for STS
In addition to being a regular activity for maintaining cleanliness, this week’s Clean Up Friday had special significance as it took place shortly before the Sumatif Tengah Semester (STS).
A clean, tidy, and comfortable classroom can help create a more conducive atmosphere for students during their STS. With desks and chairs properly arranged, a clean whiteboard, organised classroom materials, and a clean floor, students can take part in their assessments more comfortably and remain focused.
Preparing for the STS is not only about academic readiness. The learning environment is also an important part of the preparation. Therefore, through this activity, students were encouraged to take an active role in preparing their own classrooms.
With the spirit of “Clean Classroom, Ready for STS!”, the students demonstrated that preparation for learning assessments can begin with simple things, including keeping their learning environment clean and organised.
Building Good Habits
Al Siddiq International Primary School continues to foster positive habits among students through activities that are closely connected to their everyday lives. One of these is developing the habit of maintaining cleanliness within the school environment.
Clean Up Friday is expected to be more than simply an activity carried out on Fridays. More importantly, it aims to develop students’ awareness that cleanliness is a habit that should be practised every day.
Students are encouraged to apply these habits in the classroom, throughout the school environment, and at home. This can begin with simple actions such as tidying their desks after use, returning books to their proper places, putting rubbish in the bin, and taking care of the facilities and belongings around them.
Through consistent practice, values such as cleanliness, discipline, independence, responsibility, and teamwork can gradually become an integral part of students’ character.
Clean Classroom, Happy Learning!
The Clean Up Friday activity on Friday, 4 September 2026, was carried out with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of togetherness. Students showed excitement as they cleaned and organised their respective classrooms.
Once the activity was completed, the classrooms were cleaner, tidier, and ready for use. The students’ smiles and enthusiasm added to the positive atmosphere created after completing their tasks together.
May this activity help students understand that maintaining a clean classroom is a shared responsibility and that a comfortable learning environment can support a better learning experience.
With their classrooms cleaned and prepared, the students are now ready to welcome the Sumatif Tengah Semester (STS) with enthusiasm, preparation, and confidence.
