On Monday, 24 August 2026, the pupils of Al Siddiq International Kindergarten took part in a Maulid Nabi Storytelling activity held at the Al-Qur’an Centre. The activity provided an opportunity for the children to become more familiar with the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through stories presented in a simple, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. In a joyful learning atmosphere, the children were introduced to stories from the life of the Prophet whilst being encouraged to develop a sense of love and admiration for him.
The activity began at 8:00 a.m. when the children arrived at school. Before taking part in the main activity, they followed their usual daily routines, beginning with the Duha prayer, followed by snack time. These routines helped the children prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the day’s learning activities. Afterwards, they gathered at the Al-Qur’an Centre to participate in the Maulid Nabi storytelling session.
During the main activity, the children watched and listened to a story about the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Through an engaging and easy-to-understand storytelling approach, they were introduced to the story of the Prophet’s birth as well as the names of several members of his family. The storytelling became an enjoyable learning experience as the children were not simply asked to listen, but were encouraged to become familiar with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a way that was closely connected to their world and level of understanding.
After listening to the story, the activity continued with a question-and-answer session with Ustadz Dzakky. The children were given opportunities to answer questions and share what they remembered from the story. This session encouraged them to speak confidently, express their understanding, and learn to listen respectfully when others were speaking. The interaction also made the storytelling session more active and engaging, allowing the children to participate directly in the learning process.
The Maulid Nabi Storytelling activity aimed to introduce Islamic values and the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from an early age. Through stories about the Prophet, the children were gradually introduced to a role model whose character and behaviour they could emulate. The activity also served as a means of nurturing love for the Prophet while building positive character traits, including kindness, respect for others, attentive listening, and behaviour guided by Islamic values.
In addition to stimulating the children’s religious and moral development, the activity supported their language, cognitive, social, and emotional development. As they listened to the story, the children learnt to understand information and recall important parts of the narrative. During the question-and-answer session, they had opportunities to expand their vocabulary, express their thoughts, and build confidence in communication. They also learnt to participate in group activities and respect their friends when they were speaking.
As a closing activity, the children were invited to colour a piece of calligraphy featuring the name “Muhammad”. This activity allowed them to express their creativity whilst reinforcing the subject matter introduced earlier. Colouring also provided valuable stimulation for their fine motor skills through holding and controlling writing and colouring tools, while developing concentration and hand-eye coordination.
Through the Maulid Nabi Storytelling activity, the children of Al Siddiq International gained not only knowledge about the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but also a meaningful learning experience that combined religious values, storytelling, interaction, and creativity. By introducing the story of the Prophet from an early age through enjoyable and engaging activities, the school hopes to nurture a lasting love for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and encourage children to apply his exemplary values in their everyday lives.
