Thursday–Friday Camp of SMP Al Siddiq International: Two Full Days of Togetherness, Discipline, and Leadership Spirit

SMP Al Siddiq International School successfully held its Perkaju (Thursday–Friday Camp), which took place within the school grounds. This activity is one of the school’s flagship programmes in developing students’ character through direct experiences rich in the values of togetherness, independence, and leadership.

The Perkaju programme was officially opened by the Scout Leader of SMP Al Siddiq, Abdullah Harist, Lc., M.Pd. In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of scouting activities as a means of building mental strength, discipline, and resilience among students. Following the opening ceremony, the programme continued with tent construction by each patrol, semaphore activities, as well as rest, prayers, and meals.

As evening approached, the atmosphere became even warmer with the campfire activity, which was a meaningful moment of togetherness. After the campfire, the students showcased their creativity in an impressive talent performance. One of the most remarkable performances was a musical drama themed around Palestine, carrying a powerful message about women’s emancipation. This drama was performed in English by all Perkaju groups, reflecting the students’ global communication skills while also demonstrating the identity of SMP Al Siddiq as an international-standard school. The performance was not only entertaining but also inspiring, delivering messages of humanity, courage, and equality that deeply touched the audience.

After the performances, participants rested before continuing with the special agenda of performing Tahajjud prayers together. The night became even more exciting with the “jurid malam” activity, which successfully raised the students’ enthusiasm. The entire evening programme was guided directly by the Garuda Scouts from Year 9 students of SMP Al Siddiq, demonstrating their active role as role models for their younger schoolmates.

In addition to nurturing spirituality, the programme also sharpened the students’ creativity and critical thinking skills. One of the most eagerly awaited activities was the inter-patrol cooking competition. Each group presented different menus with great creativity, displaying their potential and skills like young chefs. This activity was not only enjoyable but also developed teamwork, time management, and innovation.

The Perkaju programme was officially closed by the Scout Leader together with the Headteacher of SMP Al Siddiq, Amal Dzikrullah, M.Pd. During the closing ceremony, appreciation was expressed for the spirit and active participation of all participants.

Throughout the two-day event, Perkaju provided a truly memorable experience. The activity not only strengthened unity among students, but also trained teamwork, mental resilience, and discipline. With the spirit of scouting continuously instilled, it is hoped that the students of SMP Al Siddiq will grow into a generation that is resilient, independent, creative, and of outstanding character.
